DON'T DO IT!!

Posted 9 Feb 2019 on Hotels
Well what is there to say apart from DON'T DO IT!! PROS Food we had whilst deciding what to do next was ok The old man next door who helped us to escape was an angel as NO way of getting out of this place, we waited over 20 mins and no traffic passed us apart from kids on bikes who seemed amused by our presence here, even he man at the bus terminal said 'you're going where? Why??' Then when we got back there 2 hours later said 'I did warn you it isn't somewhere you should be staying!' CONS Room was dirty, fridge was that filthy you had to force the door open, walls were filthy but apparently this is ok as it's only from the condensation and when I asked to move rooms the lady said they are all the same The air con blew in whatever smells were cooking in the kitchen next door so that would be pot luck as to what someone had ordered There is absolutely nothing in the town it was like a ghost town just needed the tumbleweed and the scene would have been complete The room had no windows and when we went in that much air freshener had been sprayed that we couldn't breath, needed to be classified as a confined space All in all don't waste your money on booking here, it cost us a fortune to get back to phuket island and a whole lot of travel on top of what we had already done. We missed out on seeing Panyee Village because of this hotel so not happy.

Staff at this place are abusively rude. One person who speaks no English (even though most guests are non-Thai) simply appeared angry all the time and did not address concerns. The owner, who was contacted mainly by phone, behaved as if she regarded her guests as a nuisance. My air conditioning was not working and I am extremely sensitive to heat and humidity -- which is why I paid for an air conditioned room. Late in the evening and with no other hotels close by, the owner suggested I leave if I was satisfied rather than solving the problem. The hotel mismanaged organizing tour arrangements (I had to redo them myself). The room itself is spotlessly clean but very basic for the price paid. There is a thin sliver of hand soap and no shampoo or other amenities. Breakfast is inedible: sliced cheap white bread with a communal tub of congealed margarine and spreads that cannot be described as jam given their artificial content. All in all, this establishment is a disgrace and Expedia should cease doing business with it.

Perfect for taking private tours before the crowds

Posted 22 Dec 2018 on Hotels
We stayed there for one night to visit the Bond island and Panyi village privately before the groups. The owner was very kind to organise us the private boat and make us private tours to the Monkey temple and the Cave temple. And over our expectations, she was our taxi driver to Donsak as we left to koh Phangan. When booking this hotel keep in mind that there is nothing in the walking distance so you can enjoy your evening just in your room.

Pang Nga is really beautiful, but avoid this hotel

Posted 17 Dec 2018 on Hotels
We chose the hotel based on the reviews; 9 out of 17 reviewers awarded a 10/10 and the average was 8.4. There was only 1 negative review, but that mentioned an infestation of rats and that sounded unrealistic. When we arrived, the reception was unmanned. Not a good start, but in a smaller hotel that can happen as people have multiple roles. First we waited for a bit, then rang the bell. When nobody showed up, we waited some more and then called the numbers we could find. The second number we tried got answered and not much later somebody finally arrived. We were then told the room we booked wasn't available anymore. Apparently somebody else came and they gave them our room. There was only 1 other room available. That room did not have any windows, I don't like that, but for a single night, I can live with that. The real deal breaker however, was that, before entering, the room, the receptionist emptied a can of air freshener in the room. The smell was so strong, it could mask just about anything. Needless to say we didn't stay for the night to find out if the other negative review perhaps was accurate. Pang Nga is really beautiful and worth visiting, but avoid this hotel.

Awesome management and great food!

The hotel manager was amazing. She took care of our James Bond island excursion. She drove us to Chalong Bay (rum distillery) and the airport. She also gave us fresh pineapples, watermelon, and mango. We became friends and went to a local bar for drinks also. I will never forget this experience and would definitely return. Thank you Kahn!

Excellent stay

Hotel service was exceptional. Beds and pillows are of superior quality. This hotel is located in the bay, so travellers should have a scooter or car to get to this hotel. Pizza is delicious and so is the coffee. Would stay here again. Easy access to boat pier to visit islands. Proprietor Nancy very helpful and trustworthy with recommendations for trips and tours in the area.
