Nice place in front of the beach. Bring a bodyboard. Food quality and menu needs a lot of improvement.

Nice setting, but in disrepair
Posted 4 Mar 2024 on HotelsWe enjoyed Sunset Del Mar, but many things werre broken or in poor condition. I went to sit by the pool and the lounger collapsed and my back was wrenched. Many things didn't work properly.The staff was very nice abd Esterrillos is spectacular.

Great location but needs some "management"
Posted 4 Feb 2024 on HotelsGreat location. Beautiful setting and pool area. Shallets pleasant but very little wardrobe space (OK for a weekend stay). Plumbing a big problem. Toilet did not work in first shallet. Took 24 hours to prepare a suitable alternative which had water leak by toilet. Restaurant pleasant but choice of food not great. Staff pleasant but not particularly helpful or friendly.

Most comfortable beds we’ve slept in Costa Rica. Highly recommended this property !!

Everything is stained, from the couches and rugs in your room to the pool loungers. The one time we had housekeepers they put a fitted sheet on that was stained with blood. When I told the front desk they were off put and seemed like I was crazy for asking for new sheets. The property was clearly a beautiful place a few years ago and has great potential but the current staff isn’t maintaining it. It was nearly deserted so the privacy and beach front is the only saving grace here.

Unfortunately we had a bad experience with management. After spending quite a bit of money on a fishing charter the staff said they would freeze our fish so we could bring it back to FL with us. Upon check out we went to retrieve our fish and to our shock it wasn't frozen. There was now no way for us to take it with us so we said they could have it but we would need to be compensated in some way for their mistakes (they admitted to taking it out of their freezer to make room from their products. That is completely understandable however they never told us so we could make other arrangements. We would have found another option to keep the fish frozen had they told us they needed the space) we asked that they comp our last dinner with them to make it even. They strung us around for 30min without making a decision but we were checking out and had to leave to make our flight... Because of the hold up we ended up missing our flight as well. After weeks of emailing the resort to make amends they have stoped responding. It's a shame they admitted to the mistake but still won't take accountability and make it right.
