"Wonderful ryokan experience in Kyoto! We stayed as a family with our one teenager and really enjoyed the experience. The staff are superb. The meals were works of art. "easy check in despite limited English of staff. we arrived early in the morning and room was not ready. staff was able to lock our luggage and provided us with a map of the local area. there are some trails to the local shrine. room was great! extremely clean and cosy. outdoor bath and shower were great. checked out the public bath as well which was very clean and well maintained. "This is my second stay and honestly it’s my #1 recommendation for Japan. The Staff are wonderful. He was pretty fluent in English so no need to worry about a language barrier. The rooms are very clean. The lobby is a nice place to relax and even has a massage chair which is great after a hot bath. The location is perfect for exploring the area. It’s about a 6 minute walk from the train station. "

"We were told the rooms are all smoking room. The cigarette smell was strong in our room so that was something we don’t really appreciate. The onsen facility was ok. The best was the one shared with the hotel next door."
