This was a traditional Japanese hotel. Our room was very large compared with o the many 3 star hotels we had staying at before this one. The room came with twin beds. We also had a tatami room with option of sleeping on a futon. The woodwork in the room was amazing. We chose the half board option which included a traditional dinner and breakfast. The dinner was a 15 course amazing dinner and the breakfast was just as impressive. The location was across the street from the Dotonburi shopping district.

The location directly across from the top of Dotonburi st was awesome, everything we needed was in quick walking distance, clubs, shops, arcade, transportation. And a slew of amazing restaurants. We didn’t use all of the amenities offered, but the open air bath was very nice and the traditional tatami and futon were also like sleeping on a dream. We loved the riverside view and waking up to the sounds of the people in the morning!

Great location for the busy streets of Dotonbashi but unfortunately it meant the noise at night kept us awake. No double glazed windows so we listened to the buskers until midnight. Staff were very friendly and nice and the hotel was excellent apart from the noise.

The place was very run down and not very well maintained at all. It made me want to take a shower just staying there, but not their shower. We paid extra for a room with a view and it was obstructed. We were also excited to stay on the tatami mats, but the staff never put them out for us, which was disappointing but probably better given the state of the room. In the morning at the checkout desk, it literally advertised selling postage stamps, but the staff were confused and couldn't help me. The only saving grace was the food, which is obviously where this hotel put all of their effort. The night meal was elaborate and decent, as was the breakfast (please note there are absolutely no Western breakfast options as advertised). Save yourself the money, find a restaurant with a kaiseki dinner, and find a better hotel instead. We stayed at Hotel Nikko Osaka for the second half of the trip and were much happier.

We had such a good experience staying at this traditional ryokan in Osaka, right in the heart of the busy Dotonbori area. The location honestly couldn’t be more convenient, everything was just steps away, from food spots to shopping and late-night strolls. Sleeping on futons laid out on tatami mats was surprisingly comfortable and such a memorable experience for us and the kids. The only downside was that because it’s right in the middle of such a lively area, it could get a bit noisy at night, especially with live music nearby. Overall though, it was a fantastic stay. For the experience and unbeatable location, definitely recommend it!
