Teresa the host went out of her way to be helpful, even driving to find us when we couldn't fine the lovely apartment. I would give 11 out of 10 as a review. Definitely go there. The Powder Keg restaurant and pub is easily walkable!

A basic no frills Kiwi Lodge and Back Packer. Great free Parking. Safe and secure relaxed location and quiet which is all a great bonus rolled into one

Clean & comfortable hostel, walk to train station

Pros: Location! Very clean room & bedding (not always the case for hostels.) Kitchen was large & had everything you could possibly need to prepare meals.
Cons: Everything was really perfect for me.
Location: Hiking, biking, relaxing on the spacious grounds. A few shops & restaurants very close, though main town was about 20 minutes walk.
My summer stay at Station Lodge was a treat! The grounds and common area rooms (kitchen & lounge) were clean & comfortable, and had everything I needed. Beautiful location with view of ski mountain. They had a few bikes that guests could use - which was a treat!
The staff set up my transportation to/from Tongariro Alpine Crossing which was awesome!
I was over the top surprised at how much I enjoyed Station Lodge.
