We appreciated the deep silence of this stone, multi-floor structure that faces the harbor on a main thoroughfare. We recognized its two white gables as we exited the Isle of Mull ferry at 9:00 PM. Our key was waiting for us in a lockbox for late arrivals.
The morning buffet (£10/person) was remarkably tasty and generous.

If you are lucky enough to stay with Carol and all the lovely folks at the Alltavona Guest House, it will live in your memory like a beautiful dream. My room was so gorgeously decorated, I thought I was in an Agatha Christie novel (minus the murder, of course) where a lucky woman stays by the seaside in an Art Deco fantasy (greys, whites, metallics, nature, art, impeccable taste and style) and looks out at Oban Bay and never wishes to leave. The staff were so helpful when I asked for local recommendations (the nearby Dunollie castle is a 5-min. walk). The guest house is an easy 15-min. walk into town, along the water, a picturesque little beach, shops, and restaurants. You can sit outside the guest house on comfy cushions with your feet up and gaze at the water and the distant mountains and ponder your luck at being there. Don't even think about this decision - just go.

Fabulous place to stay. Well-located in the gorgeous town of Oban. Beds comfy. Decor fun. Breakfast excellent. Parking a tad cramped, but it worked.

Posted 29 Oct 2023 on HotelsBeautiful guest house. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfy and stylish. Lots of tea and coffee options in the room; mine had a Nespresso machine in it this time. Staff are always so pleasant when they welcome you.
This is my second time staying and I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Oban.
The only negative is parking. While I’ve never had a problem, just be aware that spaces are limited and you may have to park across the road. There’s also the potential to get boxed in which isn’t ideal.

Funky unique rooms, blean and comfortable. less than 5 minutes walk to the center of town. Had a great stay!

We enjoyed the view from our room over looking the bay with its sailboats and ferries. Alltavona was very comfortable and our hosts were wonderful. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. Alltavona’s location made it an easy walk into Oban or hiking along the waterfront. An incredible place to stay!
