Hotel shut, no refund given!!

Posted 17 Mar 2022 on Hotels
Terrible experience. Terrible customer care. The hotel was shut and they refused to refund me. We (my wife and my 4 year old child) arrived at the location and the gate was shut. The nice lady who was at the hotel (we were unable to speak to her in the local language) did not let us through the gate then called someone who told me that the hotel was under refurbishment hence shut. He actually suggested us to book an hotel nearby. I called the German number associated with the hotel and another man confirmed that the rooms had no A/C.

Not what it advertised itself as

Great location within 5 mins walk to lovely beach but not a good hotel. Smiley staff who need training and support to do proper job. Hadn't realised we were arriving despite booking through Expedia so rooms not ready at 5 in the afternoon and had to wait while they were hurriedly cleaned. But then the whole place was unclean - the bathrooms need really good scrub, mosquito nets had holes in them and many bloodstains on them, lumpy chopped foam pillows or brick pillows, gaps under doors allowing rather large insects into room so had to block up. We had 3 rooms, two showers didn't work properly and one loo. Evening meals intermittently available, not on our arrival evening but then we found great hotel next door. When we did chance eating at Crystal Blue chicken not cooked through even after next table to ours had already complained about this and ours was served 15 mins later. Should have paid attention to negative reviews. Would say that might suit if your on a tight budget and backpacking but at £50 per room certainly not worth it. The great hotel next day serving lovely food and it's great facilities saved our holiday at Nilaveli beach. I don't like to leave a negative review but felt I needed to for Nilaveli Crystal Blue.

Pros: From the time of check in to check out we were well looked after. Friendly staff. Clean and large rooms
Cons: TV in rooms
Location: Boat ride to pigeon island. Seafood restaurants, hot water wells and a lot more.......
We wanted a place to relax and enjoy our holiday. We found the place.

Nice location badly managed

Posted 6 Aug 2016 on Wotif
Nice location with some staff trying hard to please. With some training and a good manager with attention to detail the place can do better. The manager feels it is ok to have insects and frogs in the room as the hotel is surrounded by bush. Need more staff in the kitchen. Won't be going back

Da evitare assolutamente

Posted 11 Aug 2018
Pros: Niente
Cons: Tutto
Location: Pessima
Evitatelo assolutamente.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments about your recent experience at the hotel. We appreciate your feedback and appreciate it if you take the time to bring it to our attention. You had been staying at room No 11 and WIFI is available out of the room and we had been seeing that you had been sitting there with your Mobile Telephone. Your room had been cleaned daily and during your stay with us you had been speaking with the staff and mentioned not anything. We regret, that you had to carry the beach chairs to the beach around 180 meters and at any request our staff could have assisted you to carry them for you. We made a print out from your EXPEDIA booking and it was clearly shown, that the bookings showed only Room only without breakfast. Anyhow the Management had the liberty to give you the breakfast free of charge and you saved USD 84 for this gratis service from us. We understand, that there is not many restaurants / bars around but booking a place in the FAR EAST you definitely have made inquiries and should have learned about the facilities of the area. All meals offered here(expect the Seafood Platter ) are under EUR 10. That one of the owners occupies the restaurant a table and does her work and sees, that the operation is smoothly running ,could one be beneficial to the hotel and the guests. When our Receptionist Banu said good by to you on the check out day and mentioned to come again, you said definitely yes, we will come again. Once again, please accept our sincere apology and we hope to serve you better for your next visit with the best of our services provided to you.
