A decent hotel
Posted 17 Dec 2022 on HotelsOverall the hotel was decent and the staff is really helpful. What they lack in terms of establishment, they make up for it with their service team. We had breakfast and dinner and it was decent.

Good Location, bad ambiance

The front desk folks not helpful at check in and the rooms are mediocre

Fantastic stay at Marine Palace Hotel
Posted 13 Mar 2019 on HotelsFantastic staff, Fantastic location, Fantastic food Manager Harrie and staff arranged our pick up at Trivandrum Airport and transfer to the Hotel Marine Palace. They also arranged all our trips and tours with private air conditioned car and driver guide. We visited Temple Elephant parades, Tea Plantations, A trip to the tip of India where the Oceons meet and a spectacular boat trip in the Back Waters all recommended by staff. The hotel public areas and our rooms were spotlessly clean and my room was spacious with fine shower suite and access to a veranda overlooking the Arabian Sea and beautiful sandy beach. Location was central for lots of shops and restaurants but also quiet and peaceful. Can’t thank staff enough, they looked after us very well. Harrie booked or train for our onward journey to Kochi and was there at the station when we arrived by taxie. He accompanied us to our train carriage and ensured all was good for us and we knew where to go when we arrived at Kochi for our further stay there. We will defiantly be back and HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS HOTEL TO OTHERS.

Pros: Location, staff friendliness. Room was perfectly comfortable and clean.
Cons: WiFi is only available in reception which meant a 30 minute stop there at regular intervals.
Location: Close to the beach. A short walk from all Kovalam has to offer. On the main exit road so easy to get taxi and bus for excursions.
From the outset the staff were exceptionally friendly and we knew they would always do what they could to help. The room was comfortable and clean. One thing which surprised us was that they asked us each morning whether we wanted the room cleaned, at first we thought it was charged extra, but it wasn't and they did a good job. The hotel is not on the main beach-front which is both good and bad. Obviously the view was not quite as good, although we could see the sea. But it also meant we did not get the awful, loud karaoke from the big events at the other end of lighthouse beach.

Marine Suite room is just like an apartment, a big balcony with sea view, A big Drawing & Dinning hall, very big bath room & Bed room. definately it is not very high.

Basic Hotel close to the beach and restaurants

Pros: Clean Friendly and very helpful throughout our stay.
Cons: Dining room could do with a bit of redecoration and extra lighting.
Location: Excellent location near to the beach with plenty of taxis to lots of sightseeing at very reasonable prices.
The hotel was basic but very clean and tidy. Clean sheets and towels every day. Room cleaned every day. Bed very comfortable and Air Con and Fan in every room. Staff very friendly and helpful when my husband fell ill one night. Would recommend to anyone wanting just basic hotel room. Breakfast very good but dining room a bit dingy. It is situated in the mainly Indian part of Lighthouse Beach and although very busy with Indian tourists at Christmas and New Year absolutely no problems. Excellent service by Hotel staff.

Worst hotel I've stayed in

Comfortable Hotel near to the amenities.

Pros: Near the amenities, pleasant staff.
Cons: The pool itself was ok but the steps to it could do with tidying up. The kitchen bins were near the steps which wasn't very nice to walk past.
Location: Near the amenities and beach. Lots of restaurants. Buses nearby to Trivandrum although up a hill to catch it.
Hotel staff welcoming and helpful. Pool area and approach needed a bit more looking after but overall a good stay. The food was very good and reasonable.
