Lovely warm welcome from the staff when we arrived.
Our room was clean and well set out. All the facilities we needed were available.

The place lived up to expectations, but was a little difficult to find with the present roadworks nearby.

Very confusing when you first arrive as thecreception us sctually the bar in the pub restaurent abd v badly sighned .
The property is excelent
The staff friendly
The breakfast lovely
The let down was the evening meal , we didnt pre book so stuck in an odd greenhouse snug which at 9.30 someone swutched the lights off to ensure we left .
Stake seem to be their speciality but we did not want a heavy meal so we asked for 4 starters .
Baked camenbert
2 prawn coctails
1 x olives
The cheese was totally and i mean totally tastless never had camenbert like it .
The prawn coctail consisted of 3 very over cooked ,i assume frozen king prawns on top of an advacado puret with 2 bits of lettuce and a " crum" less deconstructed more basic . For almoust £11.00 we were not impressed .
Very dissapointing .
There is no where else walking distance to eat as far as im awaire .
But i reiterate this was the only negative .

Thank you for giving us a 4 out of 5 score,I find it disappointing that you feel it is somehow our fault that you did not pre-book a table on a Saturday night. You were therefore seated in an area which we hold for exclusive use of our hotel guests, so that at least there is somewhere for them to eat. I am sorry that a member of my team accidentally turned the lights out on you. It was not on purpose. I am disappointed that you didn't enjoy your evening meal. I have spoken to my general manager who was working on Saturday evening and you made no comment to any of my team on the evening about it. I also find it interesting that you say "this was the only negative", when you have listed about 6 in your review.

Food here is excellent we both had steaks that were cooked perfectly.
Room very clean will good amenities in a lovely location.
The bath/shower does need a grab rail and/or bath mat as it gets slippery.
Overall a very nice stay.
