Central location, multiple good restaurants within walking distance. Front desk helpful e.g. arranging car service for a stop at the Grand Mosque enroute to the airport. However delays due to understaffing - manager is always busy.

Decent Hotel near the Masjid Al Zawawi
Posted 4 Mar 2018
Pros: It was close to the Al Zawawi Mosque and the Muscat Bakery
Cons: Make the hallways and elevator smoke-free. They were nasty. Provide one free water for singles, two for couples, three for triples, etc.
Location: Everything was close in Muscat terms. Do not take a taxi, just use the number 1 (200-300 baisa) public bus and the many, many Baisa buses (200-500 bs)
The best part about this hotel was its location to the Al Zawawi Mosque and the Muscat Bakery. Otherwise it was nothing special. A taxi from the airport should cost around 8-9 OMR. The hallways were always smoke filled, and even though there were two of us staying in the room, they would only provide one free water. The room was clean, and the hotel was near the major road which takes you to all places in Muscat. There are hundreds of Baisa buses that pass by and the "once every 15-30 minutes" number 1 city bus that stops near the pedestrian overpass beside the mosque. There are also many, many food places around the hotel, some cheap, some expensive.
