The place is shut down for renovation and nobody bothered to inform us till we arrived there and found out that the place is closed

Half of the hotel was shut down and seal but you can still smell the bug spray

Expedia canceled my reservation at midnight the day I was supposed to check in. When I called the hotel, they said Expedia did it, Expedia said the hotel overbooked. Either way, we were cancelled just 12 hours before arrival, which is beyond frustrating. Neither the hotel or Expedia was helpful.

Fantastic place, we would have stayed longer if possible. Requested main dish not on menu and got excellent result. Short drive to Durham but guess that is required if you stay at a castle.

Very convenient with decent rooms. Unfortunately, our bathroom sink didn’t work. Overall, fine for short stay.
