Staff was nice enough but place was smelly and run down with bad music coming through the wall from the neighbor. The market next door was only for barbecue restaurants and tourist items. Not an actual market. We left after one night ASAP. The area has potential to come back to life some day and it really should since it is full of historic jewels that have been neglected.

1. The neighborhood is dangerous after 10 pm
2. You only get 1 roll of toilet paper per day and no facial tissues
3. it's noisy
4. the breakfast is mediocre
Suggestion: look for a place along the southeast coast of Montevideo

Had a great stay for the price! Complimentary breakfast was really nice and the staff were all very friendly. Helped us get a SIM card set up and get bikes rented for a ride around Montevideo. Location is great - right in old town Montevideo and right next to Mercado del Puerto - a must see! There was no rooftop bar as advertised, but I'm thinking this might be because of us being there in the offseason.

Lovely hotel in the best area in the old town. Next to the food market.
Staff is lovely and very friendly.
