The hotel is a very old fashioned place, frozen in time. Rooms were clean but small and the bathrooms were very tight. However, the breakfast was very good and the city of Monschau is a must see, very picturesque little city, just lovely. Just a warning, everything closes early.

Grumpy non communicative host. Hotel old building but furnishings and bathroom facilities do not appear to have been updated in 40 years. Place nicely situated in a splendid old town

Enjoyed our stay!

Posted 16 Nov 2017 on Hotels
Really enjoyed our stay here. It's period style both inside and out really added to the charm. They already had a baby bed setup in the room which was really nice. If you ask the owners, they'll say they don't speak English. However, they know enough English to be able to check you in and get you up and going so the language barrier was not an issue at all and the fellow we dealt with was very nice patient. The hotel is located centrally to old town Monschau and the value for the money is fantastic. Breakfast was good too.

Prefer "Monschau (...By Proxy!)"

Posted 6 Apr 2017
The Hotel is old but well-kept, very small rooms and micro bathroom, very clean, but dated appointments. Owner is very German in his...standoffishness, wifi didn't work except in lobby (and for 6€!). Breakfast was decent. No parking near, barely a drop-off spot out front. Aside: The town was a disappointment. 4:50pm on a Tues in April saw all shops closing and no one polite, friendly, or interested in our tourist €. Chinese restaurant took pity on us finally. Not sure we understand the reason this place is so raved about. Not recommended.

Historic Hotel

Cons: Warm breakfast would have been nice, otherwise a good selection of cold, cereals etc,
Location: Old town of Monschau wonderful to walk around, ancient ruins, wonderful views and so on.
Very old and stylish, despite being opposite church this was not obtrusive due to excellent double glazing. Whole village off beaten track, very quiet in Winter (when we visited) but I imagine very many tourists in Summer.

nice hotel in ancient building.

Posted 8 Feb 2017
Pros: The ancient atmosphere and the sufficiënt room, bed and bathroom for not too high price. Nice situation in the centre of Monchau.
Cons: The hotelemployee was correct but not very kind. She gave short answers. She might seem a bit angry though I do not think she meant it that way.
We enjoyed our stay one night in the center of Monchau. Not too expensive for a nice room with bathroom and toilet and good bed. We were surprised by a very nice breakfast with personal touch.

Just had a three night stay in monschau for the Christmas market the hotel Graf Rolschausen was ideal for us our only issue was the temperature of the shower either skin removing hot or arctic cold that aside the room was perfectly clean and very comfortable.

This is an old building located in the heart of this fascinating town. The decor is quite old fashioned but very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good.
