Interesting historical building. Apparently a former convent with a lot of portraits and pictures of nuns. Nicely converted chapel to breakfast room. Parking next door convenient but expensive. cons: Should have more explanation of building history. Staff was not always at the desk. Ground floor entrance did not work with room key.

A converted former convent in the heart of downtown St. Paul. Charming and quirky. It’s a must stay for anyone visiting the area.

Do not hesitate. This is a great boutique hotel. It used to be a Catholic arts academy and convent. Lots of fun touches- breakfast on the chapel, stained glass, restored wooden floors and a “heavenly” bar. This hotel is in downtown St. paul and is on the same block as the Fitzgerald Theater. We were able to park on the street for free.

We stayed for our wedding night at the Chapel Suite, although a beautiful place, they could have changed some decor in the room. I understand that the room was a nun chapel but the 10 nun photos gave me the creeps. When booking initially we said that it was for our wedding night and they were going to add something special like rose petals and so forth. When we left for our ceremony, I made sure to tell them that the room needed to be cleaned so when we came back it would be a nice magical end to our day. Not only did no one come to clean, but there was nothing special added or anything like they said they would do. Big bummer. We had no towels that were clean, bedsheets that havent been changed etc. The day prior, we finally got everything in the room, and wanted to watch some TV before we went to dinner. The TV had no signal for any channel. We called the front desk and they said that they wouldn't be able to fix it and that they could give us a discount, after asking if we wanted to move to another room…we started to fuss and we started moving the tv, looking for cables, wall plugins behind the entertainment center and so forth. After unplugging and plugging some in it wasn't working but the fact that we had to do all of that in the first place was upsetting. I do wish that some windows were able to be opened and not stained glass, felt a bit contained and claustrophobic not being able to look outside. The front desk staff was nice and the bartender Kevin was amazing.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience at the Chapel Suite on your wedding night. It sounds like there were some disappointments and frustrations with the room and amenities. It's understandable that you expected a more special and enjoyable experience for such a significant occasion. It's disappointing that the promised special touches were not provided and that the room not properly cleaned or maintained. It's also frustrating that the TV was not working and that you had to troubleshoot it yourselves. I hope that despite these challenges, you were still able to have a meaningful and memorable wedding night.

The Celeste has such a rich and interesting history which was incorporated in the renovation to a hotel. Wonderful area with a lot of interesting sites in walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay - the Celeste is now our favorite St. Paul Hotel.
