Return to Salt Whistle Bay

Posted 30 Dec 2018 on Hotels
One of the world's best beaches. Good snorkeling and scuba diving. Friendly people who try to be helpful. Quaint small island with good restaurants. Inexpensive. Resort renovation and repair partial.

A perfect piece of untouched paradise!

Posted 17 May 2018 on Hotels
We had a wonderful stay at salt whistle bay resort- it feels like an island paradise. There is just enough luxury to make the experience wonderful but still maintains the feel of a down-to-earth tropical island getaway. We felt so relaxed throughout, the staff were all so friendly and helpful and the food and drinks were delicious! The beach is untouched and beautiful, and the water is like a giant swimming pool! The rooms arent serviced daily and there is no aircon but for us this didnt matter. We took a day trip to the tobago cays which the resort arranged for us, the guides were so helpful in spotting turtles for us to snorkel with- was a dream! We would highly recommend! The locals are all so friendly and the local bars on the other end of the beach are worth visiting for some evening fun. We felt so safe and welcomed throughout our stay on Mayreau. The resort does not have their own taxi but Carola was easily able to book one for us.

Lovely setting, helpful staff

Posted 12 Apr 2018
Pros: Quaint, charming decor (lots of stone, wood); very comfy bed, linens, bath robes. Privacy galore--grounds are quite sprawling and units spaced apart.
Cons: There was a lovely covered deck above our room (shared with neighboring unit) where it would have been ideal to have some hooks and/or clothes line.
Location: It's a short walk up/down a steep hill to get to "town" and the "other" beach (at Saline Bay) but all quite scenic, and the taxi is inexpensive.
We spent three delightful nights at the Salt Whistle Bay resort and would go back in a heartbeat. The building we were in was recently renovated and quite comfortable--see minor recommendations for improvement below. Staff were very helpful, and accommodated an exceedingly early arrival on our part (a 6 a.m. ferry). Beach is among the best in the Grenadines. Fun amenities (a sit-atop kayak and other water toys free to guests) . Food and drink were good and reasonably priced. Wifi in "central" area only (restaurant/bar and environs) but that was fine. There are several units awaiting renovation; it was clear that this place closed for a while and is now rebounding. We think it's a gem and wish them all the best. It's a lovely corner of a lovely island, and we say this having traveled quite a bit throughout the Grenadines.
