Our third visit to this hotel and as usual it was excellent. Staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. It’s a nice walk, mostly downhill, to the centre of Funchal or there is a frequent and reliable bus service which stops a hundred metres from the front door. Breakfast has everything you’d want and although we didn’t eat in the restaurant in the evening it was an option and there are plenty of quality and affordable restaurants nearby.

Very good experience. Kind and attentive staff.
Some areas are being renovated, but it did not cause us any trouble. I only suggest that the spa be open on Sundays.
