We stayed here for one night and we very pleased overall. Room size was pretty good with new bathrooms. Excellent breakfast and coffee.

Unique hotel with charm and ambiance.

Pros: Location, uniqueness, comfort.
Cons: The rooms are not very soundproof, which did not prove to be a problem for us at night but was noticable in the morning.
Location: Nearby picnic spots along the fjord, as well as chapels (a 16th-century one) to explore)
This hotel was conveniently located along a road which has a lot of drive-able scenic spots to stop and sight-see. The hotel was exquisitely decorated and very unique -- lots of antiques and interesting pieces. Think of it as bed-and-breakfast meets larger hotel. I took my coffee in the morning and found some private spots in the lounge area to look out over the fjord and investigate my surroundings. Our room had a patio, so access to the outdoors was easy. Breakfast was decent. We had a problem with the rental car and the hotel staff were wonderful in accommodating for a phone and access at front desk as much as we needed. I would definitely recommend this hotel for travelers and visitors to Norway, as I think it adds some character not found in other, more sterile hotels along the way.

Disappointing but so much potential
Posted 6 Aug 2017 on HotelsPotential is massive as the hotel has a stunning location. Problem is the restaurant which could be so much better. Not only is it over-priced but worse was the fact customer service didn't seem to matter.
This was shown by food running out and basically everyone shrugging their shoulders.
For some of the choices to run out at dinner seemed surprising given the menu isn't that extensive but for milk to run out at breakfast suggests something worse. First how this can happen in a hotel is beyond us. Worse was that someone didn't go out and buy some more, overall gave the impression that nobody seemed to care. So as I say could be so much better.

Posted 16 Jul 2017This would be a easy 5.0 review other than a couple of small items that made it less than perfect. A great tub, but no stopper so shower only. I was sick that day so the long rather ramble walk and steps to our room was not kind to me. On another day the charm of the reading rooms etc one had to pass through would have been a plus rather than a minus.
Lovely hotel and wonderfully located.

Posted 7 Aug 2016 on HotelsThe staff were very friendly and very helpful when we asked advice on what to do within the area on our free day. Delicious, big breakfast! Also, really beautiful hotel with sophisticated interiors. They did a great job mixing historic elements with modern elements.
