A very welcome stay at Eurostar

Lovely reasonably-priced apartment-hotel along the Lis River in Leiria. The staff was wonderful and made us feel very welcome. Our room was spacious with a view of the castle - we couldn't have been more pleased! We would gladly stay here again.

Lack of hospitality

They have a long ways to go in terms of knowing what hospitality means. They seemed annoyed when I asked once to use the sauna that they so advertised. Ultimately, I wasn't able to use it. They seemed annoyed when I asked to have my room cleaned. Someone did come but looked equally annoyed. I understand it's not the Ritz Carlton, but come on!

Dear Ms. Ellen LeeWe are sorry that your experience was not the best. Regarding the sauna, we were unable to open it on the day you requested it due to lack of human resources. Regarding cleaning, there may have been some miscommunication, which we regret. All apartments are maintained daily, unless the guest does not want. In this case, the guest places the "do not disturb" sign on the door and the maids continue their work. Until the end of their shift, they must check whether the rooms with that notice are already available in order to not leave rooms uncleaned. We suggest that on your next visit you tell us the best time to clean your room, please. We will be very happy to welcome you back. Best regards. Paula Duarte

It was obvious that they tried to give the property a cosmetic “facelift” but it was skin deep. The things that mattered such as good pillows, quality toiletries, good shower and water pressure and most importantly cleanliness were very disappointing. The bottle of wine was left unopened because I was so disappointed with the quality of things and cleanliness that I was leery about drinking that wine. Breakfast was decent but hot dishes were not being replenished fast enough which I why I ended up not having any. Location is excellent too bad there was major construction work nearby the property and there’s a skating park right in front of the hotel where youth gathers until 2 am skating and making mound noises which their windows are not able to filter out. Nothing VIP about this hotel.

The hotel is Ok. The free underground parking is convenient. The rooms are large and clean, in fact it more like a one bedroom apartment, the free breakfast is excellent. On thee other hand the outside was really disappointing. The views from our third floor windows were on a roof with dirty air conditioning units and another tower like ours. The street outside was kind of run down area with closed dusty windows. Also the elevator windows from the hotel need a good cleaning that other give you a nice view of a castle on the hill.
