Perfect stopover with secure parking
Posted 22 Dec 2023 on HotelsOur favourite place to stop when heading into France. Only two hours eurotunnel or ferries at Calais. Secure parking (gated) is the main reason we first stayed and now we appreciate the 24hr front desk when arriving late after travel delays. Our 4th year staying here and the service is always helpful and pleasant. Rooms are always very clean and comfortable. Breakfast has just what you need, eggs and bacon, plus several breads, yogurt and cereals. Petrol and large Cassino supermarket 4 mins away also.

Hotel was clearly under renovation. The room we were allocated still had builder’s equipment in the room. We complained and were given an alternative room. However the bath room looked tired and work was not completed in the bedroom (a loop of wires was hanging from the ceiling and we found a screw lying on the floor by the bed which could have been hazardous for bare feet). On arrival cables were trailing across the reception causing a trip hazard. However the staff were excellent and the food in the evening and at breakfast was good.

Get what you pay for, a bed and bathroom. TV remote didn’t work, bedside light didn’t work, incredibly noisy 24/7 if at front. Adequate overnight stop but would use St Quinten or Arras in future as so much better. Laon is a beautiful medieval city.
