A most enjoyable one night stay, we wished we had booked .more nights. James was a perfect host , very helpful and friendly but not intrusive. His breakfast was delicious, lots of fresh fruit and excellent choice of cooked food . The decor and furnishings were interesting and original it felt very homely but incredibly stylish. We will definitely be back .

What a lovely find the Ashton is. James greeted us with a glass of wine and the most delicious bakewell tart I’ve ever tasted. Our room was very comfortable and had lots of great extras like sweet treats, quirky books, high quality toiletries and a fantastic shower. Breakfast was delicious and I wish we’d had longer to dwell over it, Shame it was for only one night this time but we’ll definitely be back for a longer stay.

It does not worth the price

I have booked a night as I travel to Lancaster a lot with work. The place looks very nice and homely on pictures however upon arrival I felt I was the only person in there. The service was okay however upon my arrival I found out that there was no restaurant available at the place. It was quite late to take a taxi into town. I came down to ask for the Iron and the Ironing board but no luck as I could not find anyone downstairs. The James' Favorite room was very spacious so as bathroom but very cold indeed. The breakfast was served until 9:30 so bare that in mind as other places usually serve until 10:30-11:00. Overall, I do not think I would return for another £145 per night as there are other places in Lancaster that can deliver better service for a reasonable value.

Dear Dmitrji, I was really disappointed to read your review and hear that you didn't enjoy your stay. You booked us through Hotels.com (something we're listed on by Expedia.) So you were probably expecting a hotel. We are not a hotel. Were a 6 room luxury bed and breakfast. A bed and breakfast doesn't mean staying in someone's house but it does mean you won't get 24 hour reception or a restaurant. Instead you get personal service, we offer drinks on arrival with home made cake. A locally sourced breakfast made fresh, just for you. We also offer a simple supper, a homemade dish served with salad, bread and a glass of wine weekdays between 6-8pm and serve High Tea at the weekend. We're around to serve breakfast, clean rooms and welcome guests during check in hours from 4-8pm. After that we leave you alone to enjoy the house. Help your self to the honesty bar and relax. Of course if you need anything I live just next door and my phone number is in the room information, you just need to call.
