We were travelling from Spain back to the UK, and wanted a quick stopover. This was around the distance we wanted to go. Perfect stop just off the Motorway, in a village that far exceeded our expectations. A very warm welcome, nice room, great bathroom, and enjoyed a simple set menu in the hotel. A typical Logis de France, and just what we wanted. I'd recommend it.

A delightful stop over in the beautiful Lot valley

Posted 29 Aug 2018 on Hotels
A great place to stay for one or a few nights. The area around is beautiful and there are plenty of attractions. We only stayed one night but with its bar and restaurant it was an ideal place to relax after a long drive. The menu was delicious and very good value and before dinner we had a refreshing beer on the terrace and watched the world go by. La Canourge is a picturesque village and on the evening we stayed there was a boules competition going on in the village square. Our bed was clean and comfortable and the roomy ensuite had recently been refurbished. The room decor was rather tired and showing its age but apart from this we really enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again.

Restaurant service not good if you are just a couple against a coach trip. Gave up and walked out 1st night! Room dated and not too clean. Towels and shower gel not replenished after 1st night so had to ask for them. Shower gel again not replenished after 2nd night! On plus side very kind male member of staff tried to help start our car before we had to resort to calling breakdown service.

Helpful and charming staff

We stayed overnight in this very pleasant hotel and beautiful town. The room and bathroom were clean, comfortable and large. The evening meal in the hotel restaurant was delicious and good value, the breakfast was typically French but more than adequate to start the day. The staff spoke very limited English but were helpful and charming. I would recommend this hotel and I look forward to staying there in the future.

Very quiet after 10 pm when the clock tower stopped chiming for the night. Our bed was a bit squeaky otherwise comfortable

Great hotel in a great town

Posted 27 Aug 2014 on Hotels
We were happy to roll into La Canourgue after a beautiful, if sometimes scary drive through Cévennes. The Hotel Du Commerce has decent parking, because it is also what appears to be a popular restaurant and bar. We weren't able to try the food, because we arrived too late and left too early in the morning. We checked in with the man at the bar; he was friendly and quick to help. Our room was spacious and clean. After checking in, we strolled around the town and found many interesting alleyways to wander down. A stream flows through and under the town, appearing and disappearing under the streets and houses. We had fun following the sound of the stream through the almost-empty streets as the town went to sleep, except for the patrons of a few restaurants and bars. In the morning, we found some tasty bread and pastries at a boulangerie around the corner. La Canourge is a great place to stay! I recommend this hotel to anyone.

A very comfortable hotel

Very comfortable with private parking, ideal either for a stop off overnight from the A75 or as a base to explore the Lozere and upper Lot valley.
