Great place. I was very happy with the location as it wasnt too close to the noisy/busy areas but just close enough. Check in could be a little earlier would be my only complaint. The room was comfortable, not too cluttered, very clean, not any issues with bugs or pests. A few iguanas made it interesting and fun. Pool was warm, clean and not over occupied. Id say the place is a 4.5 out of 5. Its not the ritz, but I'm picky and it was great. Wife liked it as well. Bar was good, Ana's across the street was great for a bite and amazing coffee. I'd definitely stay again and highly recommend.

We had no electricity on the last day which was a hassle but other than that it was a great place to stay

All in all - a great place to stay. The facility overall could use updating. Even keeping it the 50's style - there are just broken tiles, our shower faucet was barely hanging on, chipped paint, etc that need to be updated. That said - it's very clean, the staff is friendly and the pools are nice. Nothing fancy but it's quiet and within walking distance of everything. It's not a swanky resort but they have everything you need for a good price. If we were to come back to the Keys - we'd stay there again!

South Winds was so close to Duval Street literally steps away. We went out on the town every night and even started referring to the Motel as "home" at the end of each night. Beds were very comfortable, and the rooms offered all you need for a short stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

A motel, but overpriced (prices varied from over $300 down to high $200s depending upon the day). Stayed for 3 nights - plenty. 71 rooms, but only one medium-sized and one small pool for all rooms. There was a group of obnoxious, drunk people drinking in the pool most of the day (even though signs saying no liquor, but no enforcement). Were 8-10 of them at one time, and made it uncomfortable for any other guests to go in. The property also allows smoking in outside areas, and most places require guests to go off property to smoke. Not pleasant.The pools were good for the rooms near them, but there were about 25 rooms facing South St with no easy pool access; had to walk out of the property, along street, and back into the property to access the larger of the 2 pools (unheated and most used). Rooms: very small and dated; no counter or shelf space whatsoever in small bathroom; no hooks in bathroom; shower was nice and big, but low water pressure; no closet space (a rack hanging in the middle of the wall); and TV was a small monitor (terrible to watch a hockey game on!). Very small counter with a microwave and bar fridge below, but looks like there once was a bar sink there (very much needed!) Worst thing was no shelf or counter space in the bathroom. Not enough room for your toothbrush and toothpaste on the sink! Stayed there for a buddy’s 60th birthday. Hotel was clean and staff was friendly. Pools were clean and the Tipsy Rooster did not disappoint. The only time we spent in the room was when we slept. I would stay here again.

This property was in walking distance of shopping and Duvall street. It was easy to rent a bike and use to get around during the day. We paid $20 the first day for bikes and extended for $12 a day after that. The beach access was easy to use and within walking distance. The room had tiny bugs that were on the counter and throughout. Staff was hit or miss, we had a nice gentleman help us one day and the rest were not very nice. The shower was not great.

Great location, very close to Duval St and many tourist attractions including a few blocks from the most southern point attraction, friendly and very helpful staff. Rooms are typical motel like rooms, which we expected. A bit pricey but the location was excellent. We would stay again given the price range in Key West.
