Don't be mistaken by first impressions as you drive up to this property. I'd like to call it a diamond in the rough. The host/owner, Bob will admit the property needs substantial renovations to the exterior but don't be misled. The property has it's charm and the location cannot be beat for the price. Park your car and forget it. Everything is within easy walking distance. This is our second time for this property and will definitely try to stay again next year.

Thank you for your kind review. You're right this property needs new blood to return it to its former glory. This has been a great house for the past 51 years as Kennebunkport's 1st Bed & Breakfast Inn. This would be the perfect home or business in Kennebunkport for the right couple. This property is for sale.

I too feel this guest was barely okay. I have placed this couple on my "NO VACANCY" tickle list so we never cross paths again. Innkeepers should be carefully cautious of renting to these entitled grumpy seniors. I offered a full refund through Expedia for these guests to leave and find alternate lodging and they declined, Every once in a while you host guests you can't please.

My husband and I had a very pleasant stay at the Chetwynd House Inn! Perfect location,- right in the heart of town. Charming home, and very frendly Inn Keeper. Bob was great in giving us advice on local points of interest, and restaurants!

Pros: Property was in town and easy to get to everything. We had an A/C unit in our room. Easy checking in and out. The host was available through a text if you needed anything. Cons: We were very disappointed in our room. I’m 71 and my husband is 69 just for perspective. Our room was up two flights of steep stairs in “The Loft” felt like an attic. The bathroom was across the hall not in our room where there was no A/C. It was probably close to 100 deg upstairs. I did not feel safe up there in case of a fire, no avenue of escape except the stairs, no windows were accessible, there was a fire extinguisher. There was no staff to greet you. That personal touch was missing and needed. No breakfast or Continental breakfast which is what we had hoped would be provided. After a long day we were dreading going back to the Loft because it was so hot. Although the A/C made our sleeping much better. But the bathroom was extremely hot and miserable. I’m sure the other rooms were nice. So this is just a review of our room from our perspective. Kennebunkport is a great little town and we really enjoying visiting it.

Overall condition of Inn was not good. Floors very uneven, one bed not adjusted to sloping floor and had to sleep on a slant. Sorely needs updating. The location is excellent and innkeeper did keep the property clean.

This B&B needs significant updating to make it a worthwhile stay. We appreciate that this is an older house but everything is old and needs attention. We especially did not like the TV set up whereby only streaming services were available. We do not use those at home and were unable to get the programs we wanted. The lack of any kind of breakfast kind of ruins the Bed and Breakfast aspect. We completely understand the issues surrounding Covid 19 but other properties had significant safeguards and were able to serve breakfast. The whole experience was disappointing.

Unfortunately this pandemic has changed the way a lot of small lodging facilities do business. Covid-19 and the Delta Variant are still a big threat to all of us. I have chosen not to serve breakfast to protect guests and my staff. It doesn't matter how other facilities have chosen to handle this matter. However some guests don't care for anybody's well-being as long as they get their bacon and eggs. Covid has brought out the selfishness and cruelness of the self-entitled. The country, and this small Inn are not back to normal as some would have us believe and may never be back to the way things were. With one-third of the country not vaccinated the risk is too great, but this past guest doesn't care at all what the risks are. He doesn't care if you get covid and die. Streaming TV services have been popular for the younger set (under 50) but for older guests technology seems to be challenging. Built in 1840 this Colonial Home is an older facility, it's an antique, and some repairs are always needed. However, have any of you tried to get someone to perform maintenance on your home during covid-19? I too was disappointed with this guest's attitude after upgrading him to our best room.

This was such a nice location that was centrally located to everything we wanted to see. Very clear instructions, parking, room was very clean. I would definitely stay here again.

Not as represented online; almost very few amenities not even coffee; never saw the owner or spoke to anyone other than thru text messages; very weird.

Unfortunately this pandemic has changed the way a lot of small lodging facilities do business. Covid-19 and the Delta Variant are still a big threat to all of us. During Covid-19 and Delta Variant there is no direct interaction between guests and staff. That's why I communicate by text so I don't infect you and you don't infect me. The country, and this small Inn are not back to normal as some would have us believe. With one-third of the country not vaccinated the risk is too great to interact one on one with guests. My business is not a HOME for ASSISTED LIVING. I am also not "Essential Personnel". Maine CDC recommends that I don't use a communal coffee pot or communal dining room because of covid-19 and delta variant. This protects you, as well as myself and my staff from a source of infection. I'm doing my best to protect my guests. Now you are judging me poorly for keeping you safe. I am damned if I do and damned if I don't. I don't call the above "weird" as you have stated.
