Hotel and cocktail room are both elite for travelers who want a unique stay!

The Cantilever Hotel and Distillery in International Falls MN is a great hotel. Probably the most modern structure for miles.
The rooms are very modern, clean and well designed. Nice use of "era" decor and finishes. The beds are comfortable. I'd prefer a mix of sleeping pillows so a person could find one to their preference.
One thing I didn't find in any of the descriptions of the hotel was mention of the train tracks and trains. The hotel is less than 200 ft from the train tracks that run pass the hotel. A Canadian Northern outpost/office is located kitty corner from the hotel. Trains run pass the hotel day and night. Locomotives are warmed up regularly and often. The hotel does provide earplugs to guests. I was able to sleep through the noise but my wife really struggled. Sleepers be wary.
Cute coffee shop in the lobby with free drip coffee in the AM. Delicious baked goods in the cooler and a gift shop with any kind of distillery swag/alcohol you might need.
I'd stay again, perhaps with a white noise machine/fan and a shot or two of the local bourbon or gin before bed.

You are also correct regarding our location near the train tracks. We are named after the Cantilever Bridge which allows train traffic to and from Canada. During the Prohibition Era, there was multiple incidences of bootlegging and we celebrate this era which is evidenced throughout the building. You also offer excellent advice regarding white noise for those that may be bothered by the train noise. Additionally, we can often accommodate requests for those that prefer to be on the opposite side of the building and away from the train tracks. Again, we appreciate your thorough review and we hope to see you again real soon.

It was great but it don’t make sense that I had to pay again just so they can possibly pay for if you mess up there room but when the tv don’t work and u almost get locked out of your room because it don’t go thru even tho I already paid thru somewhere else. Maybe next time don’t treat your clients like thieves don’t nobody want no 35$ soaps nor does any wnna take ur glasses or the “tv off the wall” as the guy up front said I will never be staying here again hopefully you make it easier for younger people to be at ease!

Thank you for your feedback and we apologize that your personal card was authorized for the amount of the stay. Normally on prepaid reservations we DO take a personal card on arrival, but it is just for us to have on file and not authorized for the stay amount. This way if a guest decides to put purchases from the cocktail lounge or breakfast bar directly to the room, the payment covered. And it is true that we have to protect ourselves in the event someone does damage a room. We believe this is customary for most hotels. We did not mean to make you feel like a thief. Again, please accept our apology for your card being authorized in error. We will address this with the team. This facility was first class. This time of the year local dining options were very limited. However, the hotel restaurant was outstanding. I highly recommend this hotel.

Great boutique hotel
Posted 12 Feb 2024 on HotelsWe recommend this hotel! The room was great and we loved the sauna and cocktail lounge/restaurant. This hotel is next to some train tracks, if you’re a light sleeper best to request a room away from the tracks with a lake view. We didn’t have any trouble with train noise in room 301.
