Stay based on convenient location to a wedding we were attending. One night only just to save a long drive home, so took cheapest option available. A bit run down and in need of freshen up. Staff attentive, breakfast average .

Very tired building with a damp smell everywhere. The rooms was dirty and smelled. Lack of staff at check in and check out. We thought the restaurant staff were guest as was wearing a biker’s leather jacket to serve us. Asked for a fruit juice with breakfast and was told that there will be an extra charge! Never ever had that before. Breakfast was good. External car park was filthy and hotel full of contractors as struggled to park as big dirty vans just parked any old how!

Such a shame that this property has been left to go to ruin. In such a nice area too. The bedroom was appalling. We had trouble opening the door into it. It had been left to deteriorate. We felt devastated but couldn’t face the travel back home that evening.

I can best describe the hotel as tired. It is in desperate need of some TLC. Checkin started to assume aspects of Basil Fawlty when a member of staff my wife spoke to about checking in told her that he would be along shortly as he was talking to someone! Then a different person tried to check us in but couldn't get the computer to work, before then going to a second person who was trying to check in. However, at last the conversation holder arrived and managed to sort things out.. The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable and the lovely white fluffy towels were wonderful. Sadly that is where the positive comments cease. The carpet is long overdue for replacement, the chair had damage to the seat resembling a hole, the walls were inn a decent state of decoration, but the gloss paint was flaking on windowsills, door frames etc. There were brown stains on part of the ceiling and on one wall as though from a water leak. The towel rail in the bathroom was quite rusty and there were black marks, possibly from mould, in the shower. We didn't eat there apart from breakfast, and the full English could not be faulted, and it was clearly freshly cooked to order. That said, it did take 30 minutes from ordering to delivery. Understandable if the dining room was busy, but it wasn't. Would we stay there again? Definitely not.

We have stayed here before as it's near family. The property needs a good refurbishment, but they are doing it slowly. The rooms are comfy but in need of a good cleaner. For the price we paid it was fine for what we needed. The staff were really pleasant and helpful and the meals very good

The staff, restaurant are always outstanding, feels like home but the property itself is quite dated. Would require refurbishing. Price is attractive.

Needs a bit of an update as a bit run down in areas, but the price reflects that so worked for us. Pub great, location next to Devils Punchbowl excellent and staff very friendly.
