Family run pub and inn. As a woman travelling alone I always keep a low profile, but I was welcomed in and invited to the pub quiz ( declined after a long day of meetings but lovely to be asked!) was looked after wonderfully, and enjoyed my home cooked breakfast watching red kites fly over the River Wye. The perfect base for a trip to Hay. Thank you

Great stay, super hospitality and food
Posted 16 Feb 2024 on HotelsExcellent stay all round. Great location, wady to find by the river. Plenty of parking. Super friendly hosts. Great room with suoer bathroom. Food in the evening and breakfast was excellent.

I absolutely loved it, I stayed so I could travel to the Hay on Wye Winter Festival quite easily but really appreciated the view and the chill atmosphere. Would love to return!

I won’t be returning. The room was cold, very basic and very noisy. The evening meal choice was limited and basic. It was overpriced for what it was. The only redeeming factor was the breakfast.

We are disappointed and completely disagree with your review. We feel that giving us a 1 is an insult. To address some of your points, the rooms are kept cool as not everyone likes a hot room, it is easier to heat up than cool down. Every room and en-suite has its own radiator with its own control on it. If you could not turn up the radiator or there was still no heat when you did you could have come and talked to anyone of our friendly staff who would have helped you. There are also blankets in each room for the beds in case you still feel cold. There will always be an element of noise when you book above a pub but we are usually closed by 11pm. If you want to stay somewhere that is completely quiet we suggest you book a quiet B&B, any pub will have some bar noise. The evening meal choice is not limited. There are 9 choices on the menu and 7 choices on the specials board. There is a mixture of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options ranging from 9.50 to 13.50. We serve good quality pub grub.At no point during your stay did you bring any of your issues to a member a staff so they could help sort things out for you.

Thank you
Posted 15 Oct 2023 on HotelsOnly stayed for one night to visit Hay-on-Wye. The room was clean and comfortable. It can be a bit noisy though as there is a pub below. Food was good! Especially the apple crumble.
