Nice property. A couple of minor maintenance issues: blind slats in main room don’t rotate. Bathroom sink partly blocked. Main issue however was Deb and Steve seem over busy. I called and emailed prior to arrival to confirm booking, time etc. as this is a remote area. The phone was off, no response to email. As it turned out, others had mistakenly checked into my room, after speaking to Deb on the way in. She didn’t pick up that they were the wrong people arriving a day early. I know they get a parade of people through each week, but still, it would be good if they were more responsive and checked who was supposed to be arriving each day. All that said, Deb sorted out the issue promptly and no harm done. It is a nice place, beautiful view from the lounge room and tables and chairs out the front make a great place to enjoy breakfast.

Hi Paul,Thank you, we are glad you enjoyed yourself.We are aware of the blind not rotating, a guest broke it during the middle of the season and it’s a 10 hour drive to the city and back to get a replacement which means it sometimes has to wait quite a while! We now have a new blind to install but the cottage has been booked every day for weeks so haven’t had time to replace it yet, and as it’s not a major issue (there is still privacy with it how it is) we didn’t think it was too much of a problem.Thanks for letting us know about the sink in the bathroom, it is a slow draining sink, so not sure if it is actually blocked but we will have a look when cleaning it.We are pretty busy here, unfortunately we live in a town with only 200 people and most of them are older so any younger or able bodied people tend to do a lot for the town, both Steve & I are volunteer emergency services in the area here, I volunteer up to 60 hours every week as an ambulance responder, Steve is SES and CFS, and we also work outside the property to earn a wage, so I do apologise that while I was cleaning the cottage, the other couple came in at 11am saying “we are here” and me not having access to the booking system while cleaning, didn’t know they were a day early, told them to come back but no need to stop into the house because they already knew where to go, so we do apologise for the mix up but glad we were able to sort it out very quickly for you.Thanks again for staying with us, we do hope you enjoyed the beautiful Flinders Ranges!!CheersDeb & Steve

If you want quiet out of town on your own (or with a friend) this js the place to come. Beautiful

We loved this property and would definitely stay again if in the area. A lovely cottage with a fully equipped kitchen with everything l could have needed. Bed was really comfortable and heater was good. Also a laundry close by . A beautiful view of the ranges was had as we enjoyed sitting by the open fire pit and watching kangaroos. Location was perfect. Two kms from hawker with peace and quiet.

Great place to base yourself for exploring Flinder
Posted 16 Jul 2023 on HotelsThe location is amazing! We spotted kangaroos next door on arrival. Far enough away from town to see all the stars in the night sky, but close enough for all your needs. The beds were comfortable, the shower was hot and the kitchen was basic but sufficiently stocked for cooking meals (we were a family of 5).

The location is close to town and quiet.
Steve is a great host and the cottage was very comfortable with good beds, and many comfort touches. We thoroughly enjoyed our few days there.

The property was very clean and had everything we needed. Great location to explore the Flinders Ranges. Great communication with hosts and lots of helpful info in the cabin about places to explore. We loved it!
