The property is set in a very quiet and peaceful location with beautiful gardens. The owner clearly spends time and effort on the grounds however, we were disappointed by the lack of privacy in our room, it being directly adjacent to the breakfast room with all the accompanying intrusive noise.We were warned the previous evening by the proprietor that this was likely altho we did not realise it would be quite so loud. We were informed breakfast would be between 8-9am but the noise started at 7.30 am with no respite. When we made our concerns known to the owner she had the temerity to ask what time we retired and perhaps we might have 'gone to bed' earlier. To add injury to insult we were informed that perhaps it might have been better had we risen earlier. We were offered a refund for our second night which we accepted but all costs were deducted. When we asked about any warning to guests re the noise, the proprietor informed us that this issue was highlighted on the web site. We have been unable to find any trace of this notification.

I am sorry your stay didn't meet your expectations.As you know I did explain that guests would be having their breakfast between 8-9 am and unusually we had one guest who required an earlier breakfast ; I apologize that you were disturbed - you mentioned that you didn't realize that it was light at 9 am - we talked about whether we were early or late risers - general conversation - and at no time would I have suggested you might have 'gone to bed' earlier; as you were clearly unhappy, I offered to refund your second night - I also explained that we do not get paid by agoda until after your stay & commission is deducted - I refunded you in full so please do not mislead other guests by your comments; I did not need to refund you but did so as a goodwill gesture
Our breakfast room which is shown on our web site is in the same wing of the house as 2 of the B&B rooms - it has worked really well for the past 11 years

The only disappointing stay we had in the 17 nights we were in the country. This property could be amazing with a little polishing and care. Currently very tired both inside and outside. Not at all like the photos and definitely not worth what we paid for it. We stayed in other more pricy areas of the country paying much less for much nicer properties which showed pride of ownership which this did not. Dusty, stained carpets, gardens required major attention. Bathrooms very basic, with rough old towels. Sheets had seen better days. Rooms could not be locked when you were not in the room so open to everyone. Only a slider from the inside when you were in room. This was very concerning. A very small safe provided but it’s size was inadequate and having to leave all our personal effects open to not only the property owner but also other guests was a problem. Would not recommend.

We enjoyed meeting you and your daughter, and hope you enjoyed visiting Hawke’s Bay
In the bedrooms we provide TV, in room tea/coffee making & biscuits, fresh flowers & a comprehensive bedroom folder as well as free maps, and complimentary wifi; as well as complimentary refreshments on arrival which I think you enjoyed?
Many of our facilities you didn’t use such as the 10 metre pool, the tennis court or the guest lounge and games room or small guest kitchen but they are all there for all our guests to enjoy
We do provide safes in the rooms and usually guests find them large enough for their needs; there is also a lock on the inside of the bedroom door.
Our bathrooms are far from basic, with large showers, vanity, basin & toilet , in addition we provide a range of quality bathroom products by Jaymar – the May Chang range - shampoo, conditioner, shower wash, & body lotion as well as wrapped hand soap, tissues, disposable bath hats, & make-up wipes and hair drier
We have a beautiful home and gardens – guests usually remark that ‘the house & garden are beautiful’ ‘the gardens are amazing’, Wonderful gardens’ – these are just a few recent comments from guests taken from our visitors book; it may just not be to your taste?
Given the fact that you were here for 3 days I am surprised you didn’t raise any of these issues personally with me at the time – we are very welcoming hosts and take great pride in offering a warm welcome to all our guests

A classy country b & b very well situated for touring wineries and an easy drive to Napier

Lovely house, beautiful surroundings.
Posted 20 Feb 2019 on HotelsHavelock House is an exceptionally nice place to stay, a quiet spot only a few minutes drive from Havelock North which has a number of very good restaurants. Diana and Jeff are friendly, welcoming and helpful hosts with lots of useful tips about the area. Our room was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.

Hidden gem.
Posted 22 Jan 2018 on HotelsGreat little bnb in a lovely area. Close to town but recommend a car to head into Napier and surrounding towns. Hosts brilliant and couldn’t do more to make you feel welcome. Brilliant breakfast and lovely big property with few rooms so plenty of space. Has a snooker room and big pool. Plenty of parking.

Clean, quiet and relaxing

We are always happy to help with suggestions of things to see and do - and help guests with their holiday plans - we are close to Havelock North,Te Mata Peak, wineries, cycle tracks, great restaurants such as like Black Barn, Pipi's. Maina and Craggy Range ( winery) and lots of other choices in Havelock North village - where there are more than 10 cafes/ 12 restaurants & excellent shopping
