There was a power outage. I waited at the lobby from 7pm to 11pm for them to restore the power, but decided to go back to my room at 11+, despite without power in my room. Shortly, received a call telling me to shift to an alternative hotel. As it is already midnight. and it is below 0 degree and is freezing. I chose not to shift as I don't want to queue and waste another couple of hours because I'm checking out the next morning. The next day, i checked out and ask for a refund for that night stay. The staff told me to claim it from where I did my booking. However, When I tried to claim, Expedia told me Holiday Inn refuse to a refund. I email to them personally and till to date I've not heard a single sound from the! I chose Holiday Inn because of their international brand. I'm shocked by their bad attitude and their poor business practice. I will Never ever patronise Holiday Inn any more!

Good old hotel. One complain, the temperature outside still hits 22 deg.C and the sun shine heats the room to 25 deg.c and the central AC was turned off, room is way to hot to be comfortable.

The check-in staff were very friendly and gave us good recommendations for what to do. The room was very spacious and clean with nice views of the old part of the city.

Great place to stay

We were allocated on the 24th floor which has a very good view of the whole city. Spacious room and spacious bathroom. I would think it the best hotel in Suzhou. Walking distance to the subway is a big plus.

A do it yourself holiday.

Pros: Beds comfortable, airconditioning quiet. Modern throughout.
Cons: More English speakers around.
Location: Busy area, malls & shops, plenty of food around.
Set in the old part of Suzhou. Walkable to shopping & old canals areas. Difficult to get taxis with our partial Chinese. Watch out for touts at airport. The tout took off after collecting from 4 of us to do a short canal ride. He was supposed to take us to 4 places for the price of the ride on the canal. Otherwise Michell was a first class English speaking guide connected to the hotel. We went to Tongli with her and it cost to take 4 of us, In total 440Y + Y100 guide fee & we were returned to our hotel. A lot better than the concierge's first offer. The Scholars Garden is a must see. Crowds of people. Do not get into the que for the Museum but walk halfway through the contolled area & look for a ticket office through the crowded area. Y99 then take ticket another 200m to the entrance of the garden. At Tong Li there were huge crowds. Took a canal ride and saw 4 gardens.
