Hey there, just got back from a trip to Ecuador and I have to let you know about this place "Yumbo Spa & Resort". You have to check it out. It is the perfect place to get away from it all and re-connect with your love one. It sits in the middle of the Andean rain-forest about an hour out of Mindo. The grounds are beautiful and filled with many exotic birds, trees and animals. The owner, Pedro and his staff and family are the best. It is an all inclusive place (breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, massages, etc.) are all included in the price. My wife would just mention some food that she likes (ceviche de chocho or tigrillo) and they would have it served at the next meal. and it was excellent. The rooms do not have wifi, telephones or tvs, but they do have hottubs, jacuzzi's, very comfortable beds which was perfect for re-connecting with the wife. No distractions are amazing. We talked longer and more sincerely than we have in years. We really loved our stay there and will be back on our next trip and we highly recommend that you visit Yumbo Spa as well. Thank you Pedro.

Great Hotel for a Couple Seeking Spa Retreat

Posted 10 Jul 2012
Pros: Spa Treatments with organic exfoliants only found in the local environment.
Cons: Beds could have had firmer mattresses
Location: Location is remote and located in Gualea area. Although near to Mindo, it's probably 20 miles away from that location and accessible by back roads.
A fantastic family run operation - less commercial than some of the lodging options in nearby Mindo. The staff really tries to do everything in their ability to provide a quality experience. The stay included terrific multi course meals rolled into the daily rack rate. The rooms are comfortable and large, but rather basic with the exception of a giant jacuzzi in the bathroom. The hotel intentionally does not outfit the rooms with either telephones or televisions so that guests are truly surrounded by the forest For note - staff understands some English, but only speaks Spanish. Also, be sure to wear long pants or spray on massive amounts of mosquito repellant before walking into lush gardens. The grounds surrounding the property reminded us of an idealized "Garden of Eden".
