Samos Sun

Posted 30 Jul 2017 on Hotels
I guess I expected a little better. I stayed at 4 Islands in Greece, this was the most expensive and it was just average. The ac took forever to cool off, the bed was very hard, the sheets were too worn and the pillow was non existent.

Relaxation by the pool & lovely food/accommodation

Posted 29 Jul 2015 on Hotels
Lovely welcome back to this friendly family hotel. Beautiful sea water pool with music, food and drink from nearby bar area. Excellent breakfast selection of fresh fruit, bread, homemade conserves, frankfurter sausages, omelettes, cooked meats, feta cheese and olives, orange juice, water and coffee/tea etc. Beautiful breakfast area with distant views. Supermarket next door very useful too.

Staff work very hard to give you a good holiday

Beautiful pool and surrounding pool area with lively chart music from 11-6 every day from the pool bar. Slight shortage of sunbeds on the day that a party of 20 mature singles arrived. Germany lady on reception works hard to keep everything running smoothly with the mainly German, Dutch & Scandanavian guests. Breakfast a little limited and occasionally lacking when large numbers arrived at once and staff unable to meet demand promptly - omelette and mini hot dog sausages every day and eggy bread. Poor quality greek yogurt with honey. Two types of cereals. Cooked meat & cheese with bread. OJ and water. Tea & coffee - ready made in a flask. Choice of jams. Nice seating area outside on verandah. Opportunity to take extra coffee and sit to watch the world go by from the balcony overlooking the pool. No hairdryer in the room was frustrating and having asked three times to borrow one - nothing was worthcoming even though I gave my room number twice to reception. Also poor wifi connectivity which regularly was unavailable. I believe that the quality of service and amount of effort made by staff make this place very good value for money though. Also restaurant at the sister hotel, Ilios Hotel, located below this hotel is excellent for evening meals - home cooked and delightful food with football t.v. available. Located about 25 mins walk into Pythagoriou which is fine along good roads with pavement and well lit.

Pretty good for the price

Great value for money. Basic and dated rooms but spacious and plenty of storage space. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Very close to airport (5 mins drive) and the view of the planes was fun. Pool was clean and quite big, breakfast was adequate for the price too. Worth hiring a car to explore this beautiful island.

Great choice!

Pros: Bright airy rooms
Location: About 2km from village. Can rent car/motorbike or bicycle across the street. Good parking
This was our 2nd visit to Samos Sun in Pythagorio and will stay there again. Convenient location, large airy studio rooms, full breakfast. Very reasonable! Helpful staff :) Good size market right next door. We stayed in May both times and the grounds are full of roses, fruited orange trees and many other blooms. Pool was open and crystal clear. Overlooks airport but not a problem... Children could watch planes come and go. Great views of sea, Turkey, village of Chora, and the hills of Samos. Beautiful!

Fantastic view and friendly staff

Having travelled a lot Worldwide I keep coming back to the Greek Islands because of the sincere friendly people, the excellent food and beautiful scenery. You dont find 5 star hotels here but still you get a great hotel that keeps the Greek spirit alive. Breakfast is ok, not much variety but fresh fruit and an amazing view of the sea on the outside terrace. You have a big pool, a great pool bar and a balcony with sea view. The hotel is walking distance (10 min) from both the city of Pythagorion (where you find the tour boats) and the Airport. Fun to Watch the planes arrive and depart in one of the most difficult runways in the World (Said by a pilot) however the traffic is not a noise issue since there are approx just 10 flights a day! Supermarked nearby and many restaurants within walking distance. Only downside is a bit of noise from the pool bar at night and I really do miss Greek music! I would definately stay at this hotel Again!

Menisin uudestaan!
