Beautiful view, inconvenient location

Posted 7 Nov 2019 on Hotels
We stayed in the 'presidential suite', which was a really lovely apartment, with a stunning view over the sea. Breakfast isn't worth it - you would be better off going down to the town and eating in in one of the cafés. The one serious problem with this place is its location - it is very difficult to find, and no matter what your GPS or Google Maps says, you should go to the town first, then drive up the hill. Also, it is a long and steep walk down to the town, and a real ordeal to come back home after a couple of glasses of local wine! You have been warned. You can always drive down and back, but if you do I wouldn't recommend drinking any alcohol at all with dinner, because you'll need to be 100 percent alert driving back up.

Village atmosphere was an interesting concept but some of the design ideas were out of context eg modern art in traditional rooms. There were also modern basins and mirrors in the bathroom but no screens...thus water splash everywhere when showering. The air conditioner was also faulty and the electrical wires in rooms also detracted from from the experience.

Stunning views, a character-full property, good management and a peaceful environment made this a very relaxing an enjoyable stay. However, the height on the hill posed problems to ourselves as seniors - however there was a taxi service from nearby Agios Kirykos which overcame this. Don’t miss the wonderful nearby archaeological museum!

I don’t know why this hotel has a 9.2 review. I question where the reviews came from. We spent a month in Europe and this was the worse hotel we stayed in. We stayed in 2 hotels on the Island of Lesvos, Greece and paid the same price and they were fabulous. Nothing worked in the Pyrgos Icarian Traditional Village hotel. The TV did not work, the bathroom door did not shut, they had a towel heater but it did not work. We notified them as to when we would arrive. When we got there, the refrigerator doors were open and it had not been turned on. The A/C had not been turned on and when we opened the doors to let some fresh air in, 10 flies flew in. This was due to the fact they had no screens and a goat lived next door. You were asked not to flush your toilet paper down the toilet but after two days, no one came to take the Smelly bathroom trash out. You could see the sea but the most prominent part of the view was the cloths line. We gave them some laundry to wash in the morning but when it was time to go to bed, my night clothes were still wet as they did not have a clothes dryer. Because of this all of the bath towels were very rough. We would never recommend this hotel and could not wait to leave.

We are very sorry you didn't enjoy your staying. We do open some of the appliances on the arrival ( like the fridge). The tv and the air condition have controls to use remotely. We open the heaters during winter, not at the summer. Yes, there is a dryer but you had to ask for fast dry, since most people in Greece dry clothes at the sun. Anyway, You could ask to cancel the reservation or ask for assistance at the reception, since you were so upset. We feel very sorry.

The accommodations were very clean and very beautiful. The view is spectacular. The woman at the front desk and all those that assist her are very friendly. Thank you!

A beautiful hotel central to Agios Kirikos

Posted 13 Aug 2018
Pros: The property was beautiful and traditional, but not expensive or dated. It was nice to have pool facilities while so close to Agios Kirikos.
Cons: The paving of the driveway needs to be modified, as it is difficult to safely maneuver a car up the incline of the driveway with the current pavers.
Location: Location is central to Agios Kirikos; a10-min walk or 2-min drive. The hill is very steep so you have to be a good manual driver if accessing by car.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Pyrgos Exclusive Boutique Villas. The premises of the property are updated, yet traditional in style. The staff were friendly and welcoming. If you book a room here, the more interesting rooms appeared to be the ones which surround the pool, so perhaps request one of these rooms if you are visiting.
