Disappointing
Posted 27 Dec 2018 on HotelsThere was no heating in the room despite it being December. Ceilings were also mouldy but breakfast was ok. Given how much we paid and that we stayed over Christmas it was really disappointing as we just wanted to get home.

My stay was fine. Cheap and cheerful.

No lift... but what do you want for the price? Quiet location. Fun building... old, but extended, adapted (a number of times, it would seem!) in interesting ways. Don't worry- there is quite a lot of parking- Under the trees in what was the garden, if you look with Google "satellite" view.
Lots of "style" in the decor.
The Ritz? No. What do you want at these prices. A nice place to stay? Yes!

Felt cheap. Heating was intermittent and the room had coffee stains on wall and skirting board. Breakfast was slow and basic. Blinds in window were broken. Bed was comfortable though.

nice enough
Posted 3 Nov 2018 on Hotelsfor the area it is reasonable value - was cold in the room late at night and early morning until I asked for heat to be turned on and they obliged - could use a renovation - overall it is decent - 10-15 mins walk to Goldaming

The hotel in Godalming was very pleasant. The staff were very helpful, they allowed us to check in before 2pm, though we did have to wait. The hotel was priced very reasonable for the start of School holidays, as pensioners this was pleasing.
The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were also friendly and obliging. It was somewhat old fashioned and did not have a lift to use, though this was not inconvenient for us. I did not ask if they had disabled facilities as didn't require this service.
The hotel was also convenient to a couple of pubs, ideal for catching up with friends.
Thank you

Ok as a base if all you want is a bed for a night

Pros: Basic, suited purpose.
Cons: Sweeteners should be available in rooms and dining room.
Location: Was there for a local weekend event so didn't explore locally.
Saw a lot of reviews saying it was dirty, either they were wrong or the owners listened and have cleaned it up as I saw no evidence to support this it was clean if the décor was a little tired and could do with freshening up. If your just looking for a bed for the night as I was attending a local weekend event this hotel fits the bill. I would be looking for a bit more if I was holidaying in the area and using it as a base for exploring the area and as somewhere to retreat to in order to spend some time and rest. I have only two minor gripes which I hope they will address for future guests. There was no tea spoon in the room for use with the tea and coffee facilities and also while there was sugar there were no sweeteners either in the room of the dining area, with the rise in the number of adults now being diagnosed as type 2 diabetics there really should be a provision to help meet their medical needs, cost implications should be minimal and offset with reduced use of sugar.

Thanks for your comments.
There should have been a teaspoon in the room but I will get some sweeteners.
We are always happy to provide anything that is missing or that you require.

It is Guest Accommodation that we provide, that's somewhere between a B&B and a small hotel. We are not licensed but do provide a complementary bottle of water and bottle of red wine for our guests.
There are pubs that do food within 50 yards of us and more restaurants just a 5-10 minute walk away.
