Glenorchy Lake House (Glenorchy) Hotel Review

Comfortable and close to the lake.

I could put up photos of the amazing view of Glenorchy and the surrounds but chances are that you've already seen them and are now looking for a place to stay. The Lake House is comfortable and situated very close to the lake. This is both a good thing and a bad thing. Good because it's close to walk and get a better view down the lake or up towards the mountains where sections of LoTR was filmed. Bad because there are sand flies which will happily feast upon your bare skin. Make sure you wear good insect repellent at all times. We stayed in the King suite and it was a quite sizable room with a massive en-suite which included a separate bath. There is a small deck out the front where you could sit and have a coffee or a wine. WiFi was easy to access and suitably fast. The host was amazing and greeted me by name before I managed to tell her any more than the fact I was checking in. I felt that there was nothing that she would not have done to make our stay more comfortable if this was required.

Perhaps we didn’t read the write up Properly but we didn’t like the shared kitchen dining and lounge facilities also the free breakfast option is only an option if you can stay onsite after 8.30 am which didn’t work for us .Very clean and tidy but possibly a bit rich for money paid

The description does state that there are communal areas, this means shared, and when guests book they are only selecting a room, not the whole house. If guests wish to have the house to themselves they can book this through our own website, this will also entitle them to free breakfast. These guests would not have had breakfast included as they booked through a 3rd party website so bit confused by their statement regarding this. When breakfast is included all the delicious food is available in the house for guests when they check in so they can eat at an hour that suits them. We have many guests who love the house but clearly the shared facilities do not suit everyone and guests do need to read property descriptions carefully before they book, especially when using 3rd party websites as they can restrict the information we can share about our property on them.

So Glad We Picked The Glenorchy Lake House

We recommend this lovely accommodation to anyone visiting Glenorchy. All exceeded our expectations with outstanding mountain views, beautiful, shared kitchen and living room, generous breakfast, wonderful host, and fabulous lake and lagoon walks right outside the front door. Loved the deck, cappuccinos from the adjacent cafe, and ease of accessibility to both village and nature.

Wow what an amazing BB we couldn’t of asked for more, great friendly service from the 2 ladies at the Trading Post, beautiful fresh healthy breakfast, lovely wooden style house, out door spa, close to everything and push bikes if you have time or energy, warm and cozy loved it all.

I didn’t like the fact that it was sold as accommodation near Milford Sound, when that town is a 5 hour drive away.

Beautiful setting! Fragrant roses wafting in the air next to our private deck, where our lovely hostess delivered hot flat whites upon our arrival! Great jetted hottub with a view of the mountains! What more could one ask for!
