Had a great time here

Posted 27 Nov 2019 on Hotels
Our stay at The Kinan Retreat@Fulidhoo Island was an excellent. We stayed here for 2days out of out 5days vacation in Maldives, the hospitality of all the people in the Kinan Retreat was excellent. This place offers a good views of the ocean towards the south of the Fulidhoo Island and sound from the Indian Ocean were splendid! We spotted lots of sting rays, fish and a few baby sharks with the snorkelling gear. The deck in front of the hotel is the evening spot for the Sting Rays one can spot them very easily after 6:30PM. Beyond the relaxing atmosphere of this place and the island, the next best part was the fantastic food and warm welcome from the staff. All the people at the Kinan Retreat made sure we had a great stay and catered for all our needs from the moment we deboarded the ferry. The staff was very attentive, professional and friendly. Again, we had a wonderful stay at the Kinan Retreat! :)

Best place to stay on a local island!

Posted 21 Oct 2019 on Hotels
We had a wonderful time at Kinan! The building seems brand new, and the rooms are very comfortable and attractive. We are breakfast here all five mornings we stayed on the island, and loved the Maldivan tuna coconut dish with roshi they served (we tried a bunch of different versions of this dish and Kinan’s was our favorite). They did a dinner on the beach our first night, which was beautiful, and a beach bbq on the last night (I think they do it every Friday) where we got to taste Maldivan fish curry, yum. The staff are friendly and super helpful. Maldivans are generally friendly but more reserved/shy, but once we got to know people they’d smile whenever we saw them, talk and joke with us. On our last night the staff surprised us by putting a heart in flowers on our bed to celebrate our honeymoon. It was gorgeous and so sweet. The excursions were really fun—we snorkeled with nurse sharks and toured sandbars. My husband did a dive with the scuba company that’s next door to the hotel (fulidhoo dives I think) and getting to know the guides and boat captains was one of the best parts of our trip. We were expecting to be able to do a trip to see whale sharks, but at least as of October they wouldn’t run a boat snorkel trip without at least 8 people going, and there were never enough other guests to do it, so don’t go expecting to be able to see whale sharks. Women should also cover up more than at resorts, just out of respect for the community. Long shorts and a t-shirt work.

Comfy rooms but staff very unfriendly and unhelpfu

Posted 12 Feb 2018
This hotel is situated right on the beach by the ferry dock. The hotel rooms are clean, comfy with hot powerfull showers. There are around 7 rooms but only 2 face outwards to the beach. The other rooms face on to the reception and communal eating area so you have to keep the window blinds closed for privacy which can make thr room feel dark. The included breakfast buffet is the worst i have ever experienced. Fish and onion, hot dog sausages ,toast, and boiled egg. There were lots of flies covering the fish and meat every morning so no one wanted to eat it . I asked the manager and chef if they could please cover the food when they serve it and they just laughed and refused. The staff are incredibly unfriendly and unhelpfull in all matters. The chef refused to cook us lunch one day because we had put our name down for lunch 20 minutes inside the 2hr notice period. This was on a Friday when all shops and public restaraunts on the island close so there was no where else to find a meal. The organisation of any trips with this hotel is chaotic and exspensive. Avoid booking with this hotel and ask around the local guest houses for more reliability and cheaper prices. The hotel only seems to be managed when guests arrive or leave. Its very hard to find any staff around when you need them especially evenings.

Lovely place to stay near the beach

Posted 26 Nov 2017
We were a family of 3, 5yrs old kid. Location is almost on the doorstep to the sea, best spot on island! Rooms are clean, and most important, you feel as coming to home, since you take down flipflops in front of retreat, splash your feet with fresh water to rinse all the sand away and walk on... :) Staff friendly, also many trips avaliable thru their own organization-prices very reasonable or better say a good deal for an amazing experiences they provide. Highly recommended! Thanks Ramiz for everything.

The real Maldives

Posted 15 Feb 2017
My husband and I stayed at Kinan resort for 4 days and we loved it! The beach is absolutely breathtaking. Crystal clear Waters of all shades of BLUE we were truly blown away. This is a residentIal Island NOT a resort Island so there is no alcohol. Be prepared to relax. There is a Diving shop right next door to the hotel offering everything from scuba Diving to snorkeling and a cafe next door, other Than that there isn't much else. You could walk from one end of the Island to the next in about 5 mins. The hotel itself is small and the staff really tries to accomodate your needs, the rooms were decent a size and clean, but our bathroom had a strange odor that crept in everyday around the same time which they seemed to deodorize every time they cleaned our room. If staying here I would reccomend staying on a friday night.. they set up a beautiful dinner for everyone on the beach and do traditional music and Dancing in the hotel it was a great time! I would stay here if you're looking to catch a glimpse of real maldivian life and not just a resort Island
