Great location for Durham. Plenty buses to Durham. Quiet. Decent food. Friendly and helpful staff.

Top room with sloping roof and low beams was very comfortable, if you know how to avoid walking into them. Great bed, spotlessly clean. Worth knowing dinner service on sunday finishes at 6pm.

Posted 14 Nov 2023 on HotelsI had a lovely stay, the room was cosy and comfortable, and all staff I spoke to was very nice, down to earth, helpful and accomodating. Breakfast was really well cooked and tasty.
The only feedback I have is that it was quite dusty on the floor between the bed and wall, and on the top of the headboard.
The electric shower was as electric showers are; functional but not super efficient.
I'll stress though that I did really enjoy my stay and would definitely stay again.

Posted 28 Oct 2023 on HotelsWe stopped here on our way to and from a funeral.We were greeted warmly by the customers and by Claire,who apparently running The Avenue on a temporary basis.She looked after us from the moment we arrived to the moment we left.The food was excellent and good value for money.The rooms were clean and comfortable,though possibly need a bit of updating.We would stay again as it was one of. the friendliest pubs we have ever stayed in.Thanks to the clientele and especially Claire,ten out of ten.

We had an overnight stay in this lovely pub/inn. The room was very quirky with sloping ceilings and beams. Delicious breakfast.
