Allocated room 6. I had to get help to open both windows (room and bathroom). The bathroom window wouldn't stay open so the receptionist bought extra towels up for me to wedge under the sash as it was really hot that day.

All of the wee conveniences you get used to in a chain, gone (bottle opener for example. Odd things like no glasses in toilet but plastic wrapped single use cups when the door card is not plastic and says 'lets end plastic'... glass). No heating control and I hit a fever on my trip so that didn't help, fans available at front desk? No external meals in my room so ate chips in torrential rain as I'd missed last kitchen order. Fan isn't going to help dry my outer garments etc. One heater in bathroom I managed to work. Shower had little pressure or functionality, on full whack and hottest or cold and nearly off. No room service so ventured into restaurant. Fantastic meal, very friendly service, highlight of the stay. And the night porter was pleasant letting me in and out after 10pm but it's not hard to have automatic secure entry/ this policy seemed inconvenient and a little excessive and I just felt a bit embarrassed to sort of need permission to come and go. Tesco right next to it conventient. Quite far from train, it's not most convenient for a business trip but would be good for tourists on a budget with low expectations. I'm gonna pay the extra 15 and return to anonymity and convenience of Premier Inn etc. Can have as much character as you like but I've been mostly in 2 star Premier Inns that were much better quality and convient than the 3 star City Hotel. Carried by its restaurant perhaps.

Friendly, polite and helpful staff. Restaurant was great, bedroom facilities met all my expectations. Great location in the city centre and right next to the stunning Pittencrieff Park. Highly recommend!

Old building but well maintained. Staff was awesome. Breakfast was over the moon. Bed was comfortable. The sites around the hotel within walking distance were awesome. Major grocery store and shopping mall just within a few blocked. Great value.
