Good Value for Money

Although the decor is a bit dated, it is currently being upgraded and the rooms were spacious, comfortable and had the usual tea/coffee facilities. The shower room was modern and the shower was large although there was no hot water on my last morning. The rest of the time was fine though. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. It is right on a very regular bus route so very convenient. The biggest draw back was the WiFi was very intermittent but I have booked to go back again soon so overall satisfied.

Great people and lovely food. Rooms are a little small and bathrooms are separate but no problem for a short stay.

Booked last minute - rooms upstairs have been redone - they are great - but proprietor Robbie is a true cut above - definitely great price value - yummy breaky!!!!

Checking in and payment for breakfast was confusing as we got passed from person to person. Not being able to book breakfast through the Expedia website meant we missed out on the B&B package and they hadn't read my covering email about requiring breakfast.
On the plus side we had our cases carried to our room, the beds were comfortable and the food was gorgeous.

Comfy Room, Friendly Service; Location Not Great
Posted 14 Aug 2019 on HotelsThe room was comfortable and in good condition (though I hit my head on the slanted ceiling a couple of times). Shared bathroom across the hall was comfortable and didn't seem to have too much traffic. The reception area and hallways feel a bit dated. I arrived on the later side (around 8:30-8:45pm) and the restaurant was unfortunately closed by that point. There are very limited food options in the surrounding area (a couple of takeaways, none of which were very appealing). The hotel does have a pub (the only one in the neighborhood), which serves food at some hours (but not when I was there). The staff at the hotel and pub were friendly. I picked this place for its proximity to EDI airport as I had an overnight layover - it's about a 20 minute drive. Going to the hotel I took an Uber for about 25 GBP, but going back my only option was a taxi which was over 40 GBP for the 20-minute ride.

Thank you for your review I can concur about the ceilings I myself forget and bump my head (it seemingly adds to the character of the building) it is something that we are unable to change I hope it wasn't too bad we are working on the building which is near 100 years old but it is a family business and we can only progress slowly. We do have freshly made snacks and sandwiches available 24 hours which should have been on your room information card and we have a new restaurant just a couple of hundred metres along the road from us opening soon , we do sympathise about the taxis if you stay with us in the future ask staff if they can negotiate a deal for you with them sometimes they will do a set price but it is dependant on which driver at which time Hopefully if you are visiting again we can help you enjoy your visit
