Does not live up to 5 star standard, been to this hotel multiple times and the same outdoor area seems to be under construction. They checked us in late, no compensation offered.

Unfortunately, the hotel does not provide any drinks whatsover [not even tap water] at lunch or dinner, despite being on a half-board basis. You are also forbidden from bringing your own drink to lunch or dinner, even water from your room, which is supplied by the hotel. This is clearly to extort more money from guests and was quite bizzare and unwelcome to not even be allowed tap water. The large carpet/mat under the beds in the room was stained, and caused my wife's allergies to flare. There were a few stains on other room furnishings, a couple of cracks in the bathroom sink, one of the bathrobes and 2 towels had frayed. There were holes in one of the pillow cases. The room and corridor smelled nice. This was supposedly an upgraded room on the 9th floor [fairmont gold]. I was not impressed. The staff were friendly and approachable. The breakfast was average, with a decent variety of food, but the same each day with very minor changes such as beef instead of chicken sausages one day vs the other, or raspberry crossaint one day and pistachio the next. There were tiny flies/gnats around the pastries, and mosquitoes in the breakfast area, as well as 4 mosquitoes in my room. I killed a cockroach which was under the table in the outdoor seating at the seagrill restaurant. The beach was disappointing. The 'sand' was actually just millions of tiny/crushed sea shells. It is impossible to make anything with a bucket and spade on the beach. The pools and kids area were nice. 6/10

The main issue we had was that the service was incredibly slow. The food was amazing but it took over 30 mins to receive what you ask. If you want a spoon you’d wait a very long time. The bedsheets had a really weird smell and that was nice. But otherwise the room was clean. The towel service was a nightmare. We had to wait hours almost every day to get a towel. There’s not enough seats for the pool or beach and even though you’re not allowed to pre book the seats. People lay their towels and book to save seats. It was poorly managed. Overall the stay was great but service quality was not what it was supposed to be. We didn’t receive the service you pay for when staying at the Fairmont. Check-in was incredibly slow. Almost an hour until we were able to talk to someone and the room was not ready even through we arrived just a little after 3pm which was when the room was supposed to be ready.
