Excellent building, tastefully modernised. Only criticisms were there was no covered bike rack and the only two real ales were both Greene King.
There are excellent local breweries, Ampersand and Grain come to mind plus local real cider so surprised they didn't have these kind of options

Great Experience, will be returning
Posted 29 Dec 2023 on HotelsStayed for a week and we absolutely loved it! The hotel has great historical significance and maintains a lot of its OG character and charm. The service was excellent and personal. We also had English breakfast which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Lovely looking property from the outside unfortunately the inside is in need of some TLC. We had booked and paid for two nights but checked out after one night.its a shame with the right experienced staff and some money spent on the place could be fantastic venue.

Literally old England.

A few improvements needed.

Few little issues - TV did not work and our window had been left open which would have been ok except for the fact that the staff had their smoking break outside under the window so our room had a really awful smell of smoke which was so bad that it was still there the next day and did spoil sleeping in the room. Shower needed a curtain as couldn't help soak the floor as one not in place. Room 8.

Our stay was in the coach house, not the main hotel. Conversations, television sounds and snores from adjacent rooms were overly intrusive, and general maintenance poor. The hotel overall was acceptable but I would not be staying in the annexe again!

Room carpet was dirty and stained and overall room not very clean. No net curtain on a ground floor room so was overlooked.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
