Views are stunning and the people were great. Also enjoyed a hot shower and nearby restaurants (local and fancy) are good.

The hotel is much different from what it is made to appear in the promotions in hotels.com site !!! Only the top rooms have some view if the mountains but I I doubt if other rooms in the property would have much to offer as view. Rooms are spacious and that probably us the only plus from my side !!!

Excellent value for money

We had a great stay here, we have been in India for 3 weeks now and this was the nicest place we have stayed for the amount that we paid. The staff were very attentive and helped us with all of our needs. As far as bang for buck, it was absolutely superb.

Where to stay in Munnar? Shoot for Shamrock

Posted 24 Aug 2016 on Hotels
Had a lovely stay with Shamrock- exemplary service from the manager and staff made for an excellent use of our three days in Munnar. Views from the rooms are beautiful, gorgeous tea plantations are just a 20 minute walk away, and the spacious but cozy rooms are a great place to hide from the regular light rains. Shamrock's kitchen serves some of excellent food, but you'd be remissed not to visit the tiffin shop just a minute up the road for tea, vada, and sambar. If you're interested in enjoying drinks as you watch the sunset from your rooms balcony make sure to bring them from the KSBC in town, as there are few (if any) bars in the Pothamedu area.

Ok because of it's location

Shamrock is pretty close to Munnar (town) but still up in the hills close to some great views and nice forests - so it's a very good starting point for exploring Munnar. The staff is helpful and reliable and can arrange trekkingtours and such. There is no restaurant in the hotel but you can order breakfast (150 INR/person) and dinner (a good deal to chose from) for not much money. The breakfast was quite boring but cheap. Had dinner once and that was very good. Mostly all good BUT the hotel lies in the middle of a little village with and there are houses right outside your balcony so expect smoke from their cooking and a lot of sounds. The rooms are ok but it's a bit dirty like stains on the wall and had some beetles in the room. I had a fan in the ceiling. The wifi is very weak and did run low all the time so I had to talk to management that they buy more gigabytes from their broadbandprovider... for me to be able to plan my trip ahead... after I done my bookings the wifi was soon stalled again so I guess they hardly bought many megabytes... so kind of cheap. Shamrock is like a bed and breakfast - there are not much more than your room with balcony and the surrounding village hold very few places to chill out so kind of booring. I wouldn't stay here again even though it's cheap.
