Friendly hotel in traditional Belgian seaside town

Posted 20 Aug 2019 on Hotels
This is a clean, welcoming, friendly hotel in the market place in the heart of De Panne, and only about 10 minutes walk from the lovely sandy beach. The hotel has character and judging from the old photo of it inside is probably over 100 years old. The breakfast buffet is available from 8am to 10:30am every morning with plentiful supplies of all you would expect from a continental breakfast. The restaurant where breakfast is served is spacious and very pleasant. We were staying in the family room immediately above the entrance on the corner. While the room is small we got used to it and you have a good view over the market square. Please note that the weekly market takes place on a Saturday and the traders set up their stalls from about 5am, so if you have the windows open you may hear the noise! You may also hear if people in rooms around flush toilets or shout. But it was a great base for our stay - if you walk to the sea front you can catch the tram which takes you either along the coast or to De Panne railway station for hourly trains to Ghent and onwards. We found lots of restaurants in De Panne, and many of the buildings around date from the Art Nouveau era which gives the town a great feel.

WEEKEND VISIT

Posted 24 Apr 2018 on Hotels
Had a 2night stay at this hotel. Had previously stayed here and was completely happy with everything. breakfast was good, rooms a little on the small side but fine for a couple of nights. they have also had a lift installed since our last visit. Parking for our motorcycle was also available in their garage. De-Panne is definetly worth a visit, this was our 3rd one.A lovely weekend was had by us all.

Good hotel but expected bigger room for the cost.

Hotel is in a great location next to the square in De Panne. Layout is a bit quirky with difficult stair case up to our room on 3rd floor. Room quite small but clean. Breakfast good.

Thumbs up for Hotel Cecil.

Stayed at the hotel to watch the last stage of the 3 days of De Panne pro cycle race.It started in the square right outside so even better. Lots of places to eat in De Panne which is a pretty up market beach resort (well compared to English seaside towns).

Super Cecil!

Posted 29 Nov 2015 on Hotels
I took my three sons away for a "dads and lads" pre Christmas break while the Mrs. caught up on things Santa has to do. My lads are aged 9, 11 and 14. We caught the hotel Cecil at a very quiet time of the year, which perhaps enabled us to check in 4 hours early. The owner/manager of the hotel simply could not have done more to make our stay a pleasant one, he was helpful and informative. There is nothing flash or fancy about the Hotel Cecil, but it is very comfortable and clean. The continental breakfast was fresh and plentiful. We will certainly stay here again. The location too, is excellent.
