With the road construction in Dar, Protea was not close to the airport, but well worth the drive! This is a top notch hotel! The unnamed hotel close to the airport in Dar is in poor condition; but Protea exceeded our expectations! The courtyard is beautiful with the tropical plants and swimming pool. The free breakfast had the most variety I have ever been offered at any hotel, from American food, to Dutch food, to local food, to Indian food. I have never seen such a huge buffet for breakfast! All free! The dinners are served in style. The chef decorates the plate with food before serving it to you, and then personally comes out of the kitchen to make sure that you are pleased! We asked if we could leave our luggage there after we checked out, because our flight was not until mid-night. Not a problem! They even offered we could shower after our trip to the beach! We are recommending Protea Courtyard to all of our friends flying into Dar es Salaam!

Oasis in a hot bustling city
Posted 16 Mar 2024 on HotelsDelightful stay for 15 nights while conducting MRI and CT training at Muhimbili National Hospital and MUHAS (optimal location for MNH/MUHAS). Excellent, friendly service and wonderful ambience. Breakfast buffet was unparalleled in my experience -- complete with dinner entrees. Poolside courtyard was very welcoming after a stressful day, and air-conditioned rooms were perfect for Dar's hot weather, with Tiffany-style lamps and canopied beds setting an ornate ambience. Diverse dinner selections with ample Indian and local cuisine being my favorites. Will stay again.

Nice oasis in Dar
Posted 1 Mar 2024 on HotelsExcellent breakfast buffet suitable for meat lovers and vegetarians alike. Room and bed are very comfortable, and service is outstanding. Elegant furnishings and fine bathroom except for cheap broken toilet lid, which seemed out-of-place in otherwise awesome setting.

The staff at reception are very receptive. Especially Doroh and Sarah(trainee).
Quick to sort the minor issues. We had good banter thru my stay. Will be staying again next time.

The Hotel is in a quiet area, and next to the Ocean and one can take a walk or go jogging on the newly opened Selander bridge which has a good place to walk or jog
