The property is older and although we were not in a renovated unit, it was very comfortable. Large room with bay view. Parking area convenient. Staff accommodating.

Location: The Wessex Inn is wonderfully situated in picturesque Cowichan Bay, making it an ideal home base for nature enthusiasts. We enjoyed several beautiful nature walks and hikes in the area. Nearby attractions like the Malahat Skywalk and Kinsol Trestle are easily accessible, and it's convenient that Victoria is only 55 km away.
Amenities: We appreciated that some rooms have a kitchen, and all rooms are equipped with a microwave, fridge, and basic dishes/cutlery. This setup made it easy to save on dining out, allowing us to prepare simple meals in our room.
Overall Experience: The location and amenities make the Wessex Inn a great choice for a stay in Cowichan Bay, especially for those looking to explore the natural beauty of the area and save on food costs.

big disappointment, first room we were put in, had disgusting stains on the carpet, mold in base in the bathroom, overall not clean but mainly due to poor workmanship or no proper maintenance. Windows look out to the ocean but were so dirty inside and out, impossible to see anything. After complaining that we wanted our money back after first night, they put us in a suite which was cleaner and nicer except . . we couldn't take showers because the cold water tap was jammed and impossible to open. Overall a terrible experience!

We arrived early and were given an early check-in without any issue at all. Very friendly front desk guy. Very basic, but clean room. The front of the building looks a lot nicer than the back. Could use some sprucing up in the back as that's where one enters the rooms from.
