Great place to stay! Hummingbird feeders and trails are amazingly for birding. The room is nice and warm at night.

Cloud forest birding lodge

Posted 11 Feb 2018 on Orbitz
A beautiful location on the side of the mountain with forever views.... The grounds and gardens are beautiful and birdy... The cabins are spaced apart, all with good views.... Plenty of blankets and a heater to ward off the chill at 8500 feet!!!! The food was superb and the staff were gracious and efficient... A great spot!!!

Great stay at the lodge!

Pros: The view over the valley. I loved hiking in the trails on the hotel's property. The rainforest was gorgeous!
Cons: The coffee warmer could heat the water more.
Location: I liked hiking, watching birds, and just admiring the view.
The people were very friendly. My cabin had an excellent view. The cabin was rustic but comfortable.

They need better heaters. Our room never got warmer than 57 degrees. Room rate did not include breakfast. Not a good value for the price.

Near to San Jose yet high up in the cloud forest

Posted 20 Dec 2016
Pros: The staff, restaurant, and accommodations were very good.
Cons: This lodge is at an altitude where it can get quite chilly. The room heater struggled to keep us at near 60 degrees early in the morning.
Location: We were there to run a trail race in nearby Gerardo de Dota. The lodge was within easy driving distance of this event.
We stayed at this lodge because it was an easy drive off the main road and was close to Cero de la Muerte. The lodge staff were very helpful and the room, while spartan, was clean and comfortable. We had a very enjoyable dinner at the lodge and since we were going to be leaving very early they were kind enough to hard boil some eggs and toss in a few bananas to go.
