The stay was fine. This hotel has a system where you are charged an extra $25 but then it is applied to a bar or restaurant bill. The only problem is that they didn’t execute that process at all so my bill at the restaurant was not reduced $25. That was discovered when I returned home. They are banking on the fact that most people won’t call to fight for their $25 over the phone. So…beware!

The hotel ended up being pretty good for the stay, I was very comfortable with my room, I just was not informed there was a $25 mandatory property charge, which is why I’m rating 4 stars. The location is close to most of the local transit lines, as well as having decent stores in the area if you need to pick anything up (target, convenience stores, etc)

Great location. Nice walk to lake and River. Close to museum and Chicago culture center. Old hotel and average maintenance. The room has no privacy tag. Asked but ignored. No complaint. Good stay and enjoyed.

Within 2 blocks from the amazing Chicago Art Museum. There is an Irish Pub on the same block. Lake Michigan is 3 blocks away.

We loved the unique character of the Palmer House and will definitely stay there again, the next time we are in Chicago. It was a memorable stay and the accommodations were outstanding!

The double beds were very small. There was no coffee maker, refrigerator, or microwave in the room. There was no free coffee anywhere in the hotel. The shower had long hairs in it when we arrived. The mini bar fridge contained several sandwich wraps that had expired 2 months earlier. The pool wasn't as warm as we had hoped, but wasn't cold and the underwater lights and bubblers were nice. The spa and gym were nice. The lobby decor was spectacular. And we enjoyed all the photos of famous people in the hallways. Front desk responded quickly to text messages. I don't think I will stay there again.

Cool historic building with friendly staff. Some disrepair and loud neighbors (not necessarily the hotel's fault). I really wish the rooms had a fridge that I could use for leftovers.
