Pretty to look at, only ok to sleep & eat in

Breakfast was mediocre, lukewarm, and exactly the same each day, which is a drag when you're staying multiple days. Coffee was quite dreadful. Thankfully I was the only one in the bed, as it had a person-sized divot in the middle from all the previous occupants; new mattresses or at least turning them would be a plus. Asked for a new lightbulb in my room as it was missing entirely, took them 24 hours and 2 requests to brig one. Charged an additional "service" fee on top of my Hotels.com prepaid in full fee, neither of you will cop to it, so this may be my last stay with both Margarita and Hotels.com.

Dear Susan, Thank you so very much for staying with us and thank you as well for completing a review about your experience at the Margarita European Inn. We try our very best to make sure that our guests leave our little Inn with a smile on their face and a warm memory in their heart. In your case we obviously missed out on that opportunity and I feel horrible. From reading your review I gathered that you were not at all satisfied with our breakfast. Normally speaking our guests rave about our breakfast and I am wondering where we went wrong in your opinion. Perhaps we can add certain items that would make the breakfast more enticing for you. In regards to the mattress, I apologize that you felt the bed was not comfortable at all. We do rotate our mattresses every 3 months. I wish I would know which room you stayed in, so I can follow up on this, and if need be replace the mattress. Unfortunately it seems that we also failed to take care of your simple request, to replace a missing lightbulb. I apologize and agree that there is no excuse that we did not take care of this immediately. This is not the way we aim to take care of our guests, and I will most definitely follow up with my team, and try to find out how this could have possibly happened. Of course this does not help you or change your experience with us. As far as the $5 service fee is concerned, we have been charging this to our guests ever since we opted in to have green energy delivered to our hotel. The very least I can do is to refund this to you. I would really appreciate it if you could follow up with me, so I can take care of that and follow up with my team. I do sincerely hope that you will come back and try us out again and see for yourself that this is really not how we typically take care of our valued guests. Two relaxing evenings in a quiet neighborhood

Elegantly furnished, reminiscent of early 20th century design. Nice change from today's modernistic interiors, which begin to look all the same. Bountiful breakfast choices.Walking distance to interesting attractions.

The Inn had a very fun old world feeling. Very unique compared to the steel and glass jungle hotels. Small but comfortable room. I couldn't get the shower water temperature as warm as I like.

Dear Guest, Thank you so very much for being our guest at the Margarita European Inn! I love how you described your experience with us. The whole reason why we love working at our property so much is exactly because we are not like the "steel and glass jungle". Yes, operating a hotel in an almost 100 year old building is fun, but at times also a bit challenging. A lot of the plumbing is original to the building and designed in a time when we were a boarding house with shared bathrooms. We have added 2 water heaters and 99% of the time that is more than adequate to get hot water to all our rooms. But if all our guests shower at the same time, we may in very rare occasions be at capacity when it comes to providing hot water. Just to be sure, I will check the temperature settings on the water heaters. We hope to see you come back many more times, one thing is for sure, we will be here waiting for you with open arms! This is a lovely hotel with beautiful antique furnishings. Beds are so comfortable and wonderful breakfast. I love this place!
