It was great to stay at a historic landmark hotel that is maintained to the highest standards. The staff is exceptionally efficient, courteous and helpful. The breakfast and lunch options were simply outstanding. Being centrally located right on mount road it was easy to get around to other places in the city.
Highly recommend staying at this wonderful hotel and enjoy your Chennai trip.

Lacks attention to detail

When we checked in the first room offered to us smelt damp so we asked to change, the second room was located next to a service entrance with dirty washing visible and the view from the balcony of the room was directly into the air con unit. The room we were eventually offered was very nice but the issues experienced were disappointing. Afternoon tea was also included in our package, despite being asked to book a time at check-in the person in the bar serving the afternoon tea seemed surprised to see us. We had to wait half an hour during which we sat in the bar which lights flickering, which the way we’re trying to fix. We did eventually enjoy our two night stay, the staff were all very nice and couldn’t have been more helpful. However we had higher expectations for a Taj hotel.
