This is a beautiful hotel in a lovely little town built around thermal spas. The six of us had three rooms : ours was spacious and lovely. Our friends who had booked a suite were not able to check in until late afternoon since their room was not ready. They were then given a tiny room a few doors down from where they were told they would be. Not off to a good start....
Then, after we were told that it was okay to open a bottle of wine that our friends had brought from Bordeaux we enjoyed the warm afternoon sun on one of the numerous patios... Until the waitress told us that there was a €45 corkage fee!
Dinner was lovely and expensive and three hours long.

Pros: Staff, public spaces, pool.
Cons: See above... For the price it needs to go one step further
Location: On the edge of the beautiful Gers region with lots of beautiful Bastide villages to visit. Forget Barbotan itself, a Disney-esque sanitarium!
Fantastic staff, excellent food, lovely public rooms and garden, what more could we want?
Just a 'suite' that actually is a suite and not a bedroom with two chairs, oh and a window please with a view of...well...anything! And maybe coffee served in the room and a pool towel!
La Bastide has the potential to be great, it's just struggling to get over the finishing line.

Dommage que les rideaux de la chambre soient infestés de punaises !!
Même si nous sommes entourés de nature .. c’est assez dégoûtant ..

Hébergement de grande qualité, très bien décoré, avec une table excellente et un personnel très attentionné. Nous avons passé un séjour vraiment très agréable.
