Poor night's sleep.
Posted 17 Feb 2019 on HotelsDid not sleep well because of window shutter banging all night. Also AC remote not working so not possible to even turn the AC off. Management unconcerned about these issues the next morning and certainly not apologetic.
Three flights of status to climv to room.

Hello
I am sorry that you did not sleep well. We discussed about it in the morning and I felt concerned about it. As I told you it was possible to close the window shutter from your room so that it does not wake you up .The
AC remote was fixed on the day of your departure. As the hotel is a 110 years old house we do not have elevator. If you come back in our property, we will make sure that you have a room on the first floor.

Decent place.
Posted 17 Feb 2018 on HotelsThe restaurant is clearly the main business there. The room was not cleaned the second day and the wifi constantly goes off. The location is excellent and the rooms are beautiful.

Beware of room switch
Posted 13 Feb 2018Even though I had booked a city view room several months in advance, I was given the "dungeon room" on the ground floor in the back of the restaurant courtyard, which was dark, viewless and very noisy until about 2 in the morning. Not only that, but the price charged for the room was left unchanged! It's like booking first class on a plane and being forced to sit in the back of the economy section next to the toilets, with no refund given. When I asked to change rooms the second day I had to wait until 7 p.m. even though it was ready at noon. The ordinary room was nice, with no complaints. Also be aware that the English level of most of the staff (who are all basically mainly waiters at the restaurant) is not so high.

Classy Colonial Hotel in the center of the city!
Posted 16 Oct 2017 on HotelsHistorical hotel well preserved and maintained in the center spot of the city. Great hotel veranda with restaurant to be seen at with a cool drink. Overlooking spacious park with mature palm trees.

Great location
Posted 23 Aug 2017 on OrbitzNice hotel in town with good restaurant. It was listed as multilingual staff but we had alot of trouble finding someone who who spoke enough English to get to Devil's Island and pay our bill (we couldnt find Spanish or German speakers either). We had emailed requesting an airport shuttle to meet our 3 am flight...was told someone would meet us & it would be 30 euro. No one was there & we were lucky to find a taxi at almost double and the driver back was 50 euros. Alex was willing to put the shuttle to Devil's Island and airport on a credit card. Good pizza & hamburger ( only things we understood om the menu)...Wish there had been English on the menu.
